I was looking for it, but did not find it either and software from previous models (E6430) did not work well on E6440.

I googled some software for showing volume (Mac style), which worked nice, but uninstalled it later, because it was not stable.

Now I use Windows 7's "Volume mixer" on taskbar.

It is called 3RVX, link: Matthew Malensek - Projects

I uninstalled it after couple of days, because the volume control via mouse was not stable.

Having SSD in mSata I would like to get a 1 TB harddrive to put into E6440. Can you suggest some quiet and power effecient harddrive?

    Hi every one !
i read the whole topic and ... as a student who wants to buy a solid net( 1000$ is not the cheapest for this configuration that can be found....) i was considering buying the hd+ screen ( 1600*900 instead of 764)
Is it worth it for a 14" screen ?

    I'm considering buying a refurbished Latitude E6440 with an i7 4600M.

Looking at notebookcheck's review, I'm concerned about the display quality: Review Dell Latitude E6440 Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

"The contrast is just mediocre with 389:1, which is a result of the relatively high black value of 0.87 cd/m² and black areas appear dark-grayish."

"Not one single color manages to stay below the green line that indicates a deviation of 3. The average DeltaE2000 deviation is rather high at 8.19 and the grayscale presentation shows a high deviation from the ideal value of the reference color space as well as a strong blue cast. This supports the results of the saturation sweeps: Blue colors are too saturated."

It heavily depends which panel is used. I have the 1600x900 Chi Mei CMN1481 / 5CJ82_140FGE, TN panel (same panel as the Dell Latitude 3440 see the link for display review on notebookcheck). It's not the best panel I've seen, but it's not bad either. Withincaesura's E6440 came with LG HD+ panel, LGD03D3 (reviewed on notebookcheck), which is quite bad.

    Hi everyone.

The rubber around the edge of the screen bezel is coming off/loose on a few points around the screen. Any one else having the same problem?

And any solutions to this problem?

    Cheers

    Hi,

I have a brand new 6440 that has very poor WIFI performance. As a result the computer gets bogged down completely (even the sound goes funny). I've done some speed tests and my old 6400 is way faster. Wherethe WIFI signal is very strong, the 6440 seems ok, but still much slower according to the speedtest than the old 6400. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks

Can anyone give advice between the two screens possible ? It's hard to decide whether or not the HD+ is worth the 80$ it's asking.
Useful for text/video or not really worth it ?
