The Sandy Bridge does 3 as well natively. That's ok. I don't use my 6220 on a dock that much. More of a travel laptop.

Taking a rather long plane trip soon and my E6220's 6-cell battery is a bit old. I'd like to replace it with the 9-cell "slice" (KJ321) so that I have ample juice to watch movies, play a game, etc on the flight. It *seems* that this will work with the E6220 but I can't find anything definitive from Dell. They show two slice batteries, part numbers X57F1 and TU211 on the Dell parts/accessories website; curiously, if you search for KJ321 it directs you to those two items. Based on what I've seen, it looks like there is really only one slice battery and the different part numbers might just be regional differences.

Does anyone know if the KJ321 "slice" 9-cell 97Wh battery is compatible with the E6220?

Hi, Do we know if this is a sata III Laptop ? and also I heard someon say the HDD size is 7mm not the usual 9.5mm/
If so it would make finding an SSD harder!

Friends don't let friends buy OCZ. Samsung 840 Pro/Evo both fit fine and are much less likely to drop dead on you and eat all your data.

I can confirm that it works. It's not really a slice like the older ones, it's just a big bulky pack that lifts the rear of the laptop up. With the extended 6 cell battery if gives absolutely incredible battery life on an E6220 or E6230!

Hi, I just ordered a refurb 6220, comes with hdd. Ive been reading about the ssd upgrade and I understand you can swap out the hdd with a 7mm 2.5" ssd.
Is there anyway to have 2 drives using the msata, ive read mixed things and cant see a definitive answer although it kinds points to a no?

I dont think the e6220 supports msata. I heard rumors the e6230 does. You just have to buy a bigger drive.

Negative. I have a e6230 and no go on the mSATA support. Tried in all the PCIe slots and with the latest BIOS. I read somewhere than none on the 62xx laptops support mSATA and certainly my experience agrees with that assertion.
It's a bad design choice as I have an e6430u (same chipset and i7 as opposed to i5 in the 6230) and that does support mSATA.

How about with the Samsung Msata SSD's which have onboard controllers ?

Samsung Announces High-performance mSATA SSDs for Ultra-Slim Notebook PCs

Any replies really apreciated, I own the E6320 which is very similar :)
