You don't necessarily have to uninstall it, but you do have to disable it. I know that UPEK Protector Suite won't install of the Dell applications are already installed, so if you're planning on using UPEK, you'll need to uninstall it.

If you are using preboot authentication, you may want to keep Dell Data Protection | Access installed so that you can edit PBA options in the future.

i'm not using preboot authentication. is there any other recommended softwares aside from UPEK? btw i don't understand why dell has such limited fingerprint reader support. my brother has hp 2530p and hp protect tools works fine with all his passwords. seems a bit lazy from dell.

By the brightness meter I simply mean the on-screen indicator that appears when you press Fn+arrow (up/down) in order to increase/decrease brightness. It does not depend on Dell display drivers - I always use generic myself -, but on the Dell System and Devices Manager, which provides these meters.

Also, the mute problem somehow solved itself...

LOL. Still, never had it. The only meter I have is volume in the taskbar. Otherwise I just turn the brightness up and down till it's comfortable.

    Apparently I'm missing something...

Dell Latitude E6220 webcam drivers for Windows XP?
    hello,
recently i purchased a dell latitude e6220. i want to downgrade from windows 7 to windows xp pro (32bit) but can't find built in webcam drivers.
seems that windows 7 native drivers suit for the webcam, but dell drivers page doesn't provide them for windows xp.
searching the net for the hardware id (USB\VID_1BCF&PID_2804&REV1310&MI_00) results nothing.
so can someone point where can i download appropriate drivers?

p.s. sorry for cross posting, but i tried several (8?) times to start a new thread, but posting my message resulted only with blank screen, so i thought maybe newbie can some time only post replys (and not start new threads), but few minutes ago i noticed that my thread is present. i don't know what went wring :/

heh, dell supporting community, mya** I better don't use words to describe to wholesomeness if it. during past four or five years i haven't had never more than zero success when looking for help or useful advise from there. i just don't understand why dell's technicians or competent people don't maintain their customers questions and problems there? i just don't understand that? and every time i go to dell's drivers page, a popup rises to with questionaire: "what dell can do to better serve customers?" or "how we should improve our support service" orwhatsoever ... :D

i'm just xp-geek ;) win installation from usb thumb drive takes less than 5 min, my win catalog is about 500Mb, system memory is used less than 100Mb and i'm very happy with it :)
