That recently announced 13.3" Latitude's rocking WXGA+ ladies and gentleman. By association this Montevina (Centrino 2) platform is also looking like a rather tasty refresh for the M1330. Woo. :)

If this thing shows up in June and has everything I want (14.1" WXGA+ since I've given up hope of ever seeing SXGA+ again, 128MB+ DX10 graphics card, and well placed speakers), I'll definately buy one over the HP 6910p. And based on the pictures of the E4200/E4300 it looks like it may have properly placed speakers.

Detailed specs of the 14.1-inch Latitude E6400 and 15.4-inch Latitude E6500 that will start replacing Dell's D830 and D630 in June:

    http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/22/dells-leaked-latitude-e6000-and-e5000-series-of-laptops-pack-gp/

The top-of-the-line E6500 apparently comes standard with Turbomemory, mobile broadband, GPS, DisplayPort, eSATA, 5.1 card reader, and a contact-less smart card reader. It can be loaded with an "all day" battery, LED screen, discrete graphics, solid state disks, fingerprint reader, camera, backlit keyboard, encrypted hard disk and colored lid.

Engadget also shows detailed specs of the value-priced Intel-based 14.1 inch Latitude E5400 and 15.4 inch E5500 that will start replacing the Latitude D530 and D531 in June, as well as the specs of their AMD-based Latitude E5400a and E5500a counterparts.

The E6500 is seriously tempting, fairly light. Might be a instant buy for me :)

I'm going to college next year as an engineering student, and the E6400 will no doubt be in my hands.

It looks perfect - has the durability that other light notebooks lack

Has anyone heard if we'll be able to configure a glossy screen with an LED flat panel?

I'm hoping for matte screens like the old D series. Most business users prefer matte screens in my experience. This thing will be a great marriage of latitude quality and xps looks. I'm defiantly pumped. Hopefully they ship out fast.

    E6400 > Thinkpad

    Go Dell

I'm pretty much sold on the E6400 at this point (I'll have to see if HP Compaq responds with something similar). Discrete nVidia graphics (I'd rather have ATI but whatever), a sturdy and good looking industrial design, and two speakers placed one on each side of the notebook where they won't be muffled by the surface the machine is on or your hands. The only feature I'd like to see but I know won't happen is a 4:3 SXGA+ screen.

I don't think you can go wrong with:

    14'' WXGA+
    discrete graphics
Strong yet clean exterior - no latches
    Led Backlight
    Backlit Keyboard

Looks like a great notebook for a businessman or student

Does anyone know how long it normally takes dell to ship new systems after they go on sale?
