If you ask me, the bios lid issue is nothing compared to the lack of Optimus support with the QHD+ screen.

I have a dock at work, and haven't run into the issue while rebooting a single time (probably because I still use the laptop keyboard when docked).

yeah agree on this too. lack of optimus is a bit of a let down, but this only confirms our suspicions on that this model been rushed out.

I do appreciate the "brck" or some call it "MACE" :) I got used to pay with weight for power. I just had a glance over whats going on with MACb-pro and saw a 500 page returns thread! and issues relating screens (they retain ghostly image) guy has done 9 returns!!! I would give up on 3rd... fans (sort of blow dryer issue) shutdowns what not, so if this Dell brick accompanied with "mace" works its hella better than something sleek that doesn't. so wish me luck so I don't get a DOA and can do RAID 5 on it :D

heres some interesting information relating to USB 3.0 and new BIOS "A07" http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/p/19539657/20580453.aspx

I know it has been a while since I posted, but I just saw that NVIDIA put out a new driver on 3/14 332.76. I did a clean install and skipped the audio driver and now when I close the lid and open it, the screen comes back.

Just in case this affects anyone else, I had weird intermittent problems with my WiFi and I kept thinking it was drivers, settings, reboots, sleeping, etc. It would work fine for a while, then the device would deactivate, or my WiFi would show up with a red X, and sometimes the device was even unknown/unrecognized in Windows Device Manager.

I happened to be watching a YouTube video from a guy who opened up the back of his machine to upgrade memory and I noticed something odd. My WiFi antennas looked like this:
    Dell m4800 Bad WiFi Antennas.jpg

His WiFi antennas looked like this:
    Dell m4800 Good WiFi Antennas.jpg

Evidently the two antennas (one's a white wire, one's a grayish wire) were sometimes accidentally touching each other and causing the WiFi to fail with weird symptoms. Just manually tucking the two antennas into their little holders as shown in the second image fixed everything. This seems like poor final assembly quality control by Dell that caused me hours of wasted time, but anyway it works now.

I too have the "screen blanks after sleep / closing the lid and won't come back" problem with the nVidia Quadro K2100M video card and the 3200x1800 QHD+ display. It happens in Windows and it happens in the BIOS. Updating to the latest nVidia drivers (dated 2014-03-14) didn't resolve anything. But as others have said, if it happens even in the BIOS, then it's probably hardware- or firmware-related rather than related to Windows drivers. I'm currently running BIOS A06. I'll try A07 (dated 2014-03-10) and see if that helps.

EDIT: Updated BIOS to A07, didn't help.

Hello, this is the first time I post here.

I got my new laptop last week and so far have installed win8, win 8.1 and actually ended up leaving win7. I do have the issue of closing the lid and the screen does no come back up :(
I found a work around, I programmed the power button to sleep, so when the screen is black I press the power button, the laptop goes to sleep and then I press it again and it comes back up and the screen turns on.

I still have a week to return it and may be get the M3800... but I really liked this one. what do you guys think.

    thanks

Try installing latest NVidia drivers. I installed new NVidia drivers (332.76-quadro-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql) and now screen does turn on after I close and open the lid!

Thank you, Are you sure? do you have a link or version of the driver, Im scare of even touching it I didnt like how it worked on win8 and win8.1. ended up on win7y just because it runs very good and fast.

Another thing I could not get the OSD that overlays on the screen when lowering the volume, brightenes etc on win7.

    Thank you

:) I'm sure. Unfortunately I don't have a link for 332.76 driver. Actually now I'm using latest NVidia Beta drivers that work quite well and fix the problem with black screen.
Here is the link : http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/Quadro_Certified/337.50/337.50-quadro-grid-desktop-notebook-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-beta.exe

All of the newer video drivers break the brightness adjustment for me.

It also seemed to nuke a bunch of my windows settings (re-enabled the guest account, disabled display scaling, and a few others I am trying to figure out).
