    I just received Dell Precision M4800 (i7-4900MQ, NVIDIA Quadro K2100M w/2GB GDDR5, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L, QHD+ (3200x1800), 500GB HDD) and I'm having a very weird problem.

In power options I have set "When I close the lid - Do nothing".
But when I close the lid and open it again, screen stays black.
The only way to get screen back (that I found so far) is to put computer to Sleep (Power button) and then Wake it up with Power button again.

I already did the following :

    - updated BIOS to A06
    - uninstalled and installed NVidia drivers from Dell and from NVidia website
    - played with all kind of Power settings

If I uninstall NVidia drivers, then I don't have this problem. So I suspect that the problem is with the NVidia drivers.

Could somebody with M4800 please test this on his(her) computer.
All you need to do is - set option "When I close the lid" to 'Do Nothing' in "Control Panel -> Power Options -> Choose what closing the lid does".

Or may be you can advice how to fix the issue.

    Thanks in advance!
    Mark

I have the same problem. Received the laptop in mid Dec/13 with the same configuration.

Additionally, when my laptop sleeps the wifi driver is disabled and only returns on a cold boot. The wifi card was replaced last week and seemed to solve the problem. However yesterday wifi problem returned.

Are you having issues with the wifi too?

I mostly use LAN connection. I'll try to work with WiFi only and will let you know if it disconnects when laptop sleeps.

    Ok, Thanks.

The LAN connection seems to work fine only the wifi.

I tested with WiFi and it seems to work fine after I wake computer up. Though it takes about 30-40 seconds to reconnect to WiFi router.
My Network card is "Dell 1601 2x2 802.11n+BT+60GHz"

Did you talk to Dell in regards to the 'Black screen' issue ?

I discovered that this problem (blank screen after shutting and opening the lid) also occurs when I'm in BIOS screen.

I just got an M4800 yesterday, and I have the same exact problem with the screen not coming back on when I open the lid. I'm eager to see what you find out from Dell.

After some diagnostics, Dell decided to replace motherboard in my laptop. Suppose to be done some time next week.

What is your M4800 configuration ?
