What a waste of $20. I thought I was getting a good deal on a $30 fingerprint reader because of my discount through the school. If I knew the fingerprint reader did not come with any software, I would have kept my $20 to spend on pharmacy books. Why did Dell sell me a fingerprint reader without the software to run it. I want my $20 back.

P.S. Thank you for all of the help cobalic. It looks like I am about to start a lengthy process to set up my TPM security. This might work to set up a password with my fingerprint reader. Wish me luck.

Homer - Go to dell.com/support and drivers and download section and enter either your service tag or select your system.

    Download the TMP software...

    It's not that hard.

and just so you know, download these:

UPEK touchstrip reader, Wave Systems Embassy Trust Suite, and Trusted Platform Module 1.2

    download all three.

Success!! It works better than I thought it would. It logs out every time it goes to screen saver and during startup. It even has a vault to store other passwords and I can use my fingerprint for everything. However, I still think this software should have already been included. I did pay $1,511.90 for this laptop. (I remember down to the penny because I do not make much). The least Dell can do is give me all of the needed software already installed.

Homer - They did include it. Please quit trying to blame them for everything.

It was in the resource CD labeled Utilities and Drivers

The drivers are free to download online and really easy to install. They even come with directions. Go to www.support.dell.com. Trust me, it is easy to install. If this does not help, you can go back to writing angry posts about Dell :).
