Not necessarily. The "Intel Turbo Memory" was indeed part of the "Santa Rosa" announcements/white papers for the D630 and D830's. However I have not seen them as an option for this model, some suggesting that it's even been (temporarilty) pulled due to initial release issues.

I am not taking sides, only that the rep may have been misinformed himself.

I just thought I'd post about my somewhat limited success with 135M drivers.

Using 101.43 drivers (found here), my base score went up from 3.2 to 3.6; I'm attaching a picture with all the scores. Some of the non-graphics related scores may be different, as you may not have the same processor/HDD I have.

For the clueless, to install the drivers I mentioned:

    -Download here
    -Unzip files into a folder
-Find the setup.exe file in the folder
    -Let it install

Setup will tell you it will first uninstall your existing drivers, say yes, reboot, install new drivers, reboot, recalculate your windows experience score.

If anyone can find drivers that give you a base score greater then 3.6, please post!

I just got my D630, and it seems quite nice. I ordered it with 512mb of ram and an 80gb hard drive so I could upgrade it myself and save a bunch of money. Just got my 2x 1gb sticks today and threw them in, and everything seems quite nice, except I slipped with the screwdriver a bit and now my page up key is tilted a tiny bit. But it still works so I don't really care.

I also got mine with XP (planning on using Linux as my primary OS and just need somethign to run some engineering apps on) and the NVS 135m graphics card. Has anyone had any luck with using drivers that are more gaming-oriented or make the 135m appear as a 8400?

    Hey cobalic,

I'm going to go ahead and give that same driver a shot--it looks like the best option at hand at this point. Out of curiousity, what are your specs?

Also--to anyone who knows--what is the NVS 135M equivlance? I looked on NVIDIA's website and couldn't find any drivers when initially looking.

2.2ghz, 120gb 7200rpm HD, 135M, no robson... am I missing something? I think that's all the pertinent info.
This is a good question. I originally thought it would be a lot like the 8400M GS. However, it clearly isn't identical because drivers for the 8400 crashed my computer :)D). I'd say it's a little weaker then the 8400? Kinda like the 7400? Dunno.

Nope, that's what I was wondering. Good deal--I installed the driver and now have a 3.6 graphics score as well. Thanks a lot for the link!

And I'm not sure about 8400/7400. Hopefully someone else will know...I figure the more we know about the driver (other compatible nvidia's), the more we can get out of the one we have...we shall see...

On a different topic, did anyone get the fingerprint reader to work with firefox?
I can't figure out how to make that work instead of the 'master password'

I cannot get the Fingerprint reader to work period. I set it up and it fails to work with anything. Windows XP is terrible with security features.

Oh, I apologize for not including the link to the 101.43 driver.

It looks like someone has now.

I would install it if you haven't done so...seems like it is a stable, better fix....for the moment....

Go to support.dell.com and find the fingerprint driver. I've had limited success with it, in the sense that if you download some security suite thingy, you can use the fingerprint reader on startup as a lock on the entire computer - bios included.

Beyond that, fail. It is kind of a pain, so all you really need to do is use it once and get the urge to use it out of your system ;)

I'm on Vista, btw, so YMMV
