I'd suggest you having Spybot + zonealarm firewall + avg / avast antivirus

Vista Business has its own firewall, should you prefer to rely on Microsoft.

All of the above are free.

    Cheers.

On a note unrelated to previous discussion: I've been displeased with the features available on the Alps touchpad that my D630 has. Some quick searching of the forums revealed this post that discusses the use of the D420 Alps driver. This driver appears to work perfectly for the D630 (fine for me so far), and enables many "new" features. Hot corners, more scrolling settings, pointer stick settings. I definitely recommend that you check it out. I especially like the Easy Launch and Flip-3d set to a couple hot corners. The driver is available on this page.

Well, I let Windows Vista update itself, and my WEI score for Graphics went up from 3.6 (using 143 drivers), to 4.0 using the updated October 4, 2007 drivers from Microsoft.

I know the WEI doesn't mean much, but I wonder what was the change to get it up higher.....

How is everyone's WEI for the Quadro 135m?

    Best,
    Ilham

    Hello Everyone,

Well, I have finally taken the plunge and my 630 is on its way next week hopefully. Having read through all 33 pages of this thread, I notice that there are various tweaks that are recommended, such as graphics drivers upgrades, screen calibration and so on...

Would anyone be kind enough to list the key things I can do when i get my laptop next week? It's just that I am not sure I have fully absorbed everything in this thread!!

Thanks in advance for any help any of you can give.

    All the best,

    Nick

Simply go to support.dell.com and enter your service tag or model and it will list everything there is to be downloaded.

If your BIOS is not A03 I'd start with that - Good luck
