I don't have any problems with my D630 that I can think of under XP. I mainly have XP around for gaming, since the X3100 drivers are lacking under Vista, but I do most of my normal computing in Vista. The drivers are mature enough for HD videos, so Vista does everything but gaming for me.

Long story short, you should have no problems under XP.

    Edit: Stupid typo

I understand that your Vista license enables you to downgrade for free to XP.

Not sure if you buy it with XP Professional, though at the same cost of Vista Business, will you ever be able to upgrade it to Vista without additional costs.

If u get Vista Business or Ultimate, you re always entitled to downgrade (at the mom only those 2 fellas allowin it) although.... u need a xp media and then ring MS and let them give you a code. Sometimes they re a bit cheeky but u re entitled so fair play.
Dell issue (u need to request it) XP pro preinstalled and the media is Vista Bus with code so u re able to swap OS when ever u want without any further money transfer involved

    Cheers mate

Anyone with a T7100/higher and the Quadro video card, plus wireless/bluetooth can report being able to run the system for 6 hours ?

Mine runs for 3 hours max, at minimum brightness; I wonder what I'm doing wrong...

    Thanks

    Hey Mercuzio,

How warm did your laptop get during that time period?

Today I had two Tech Reps claiming the 6-cell battery for the D630 usually lasts 2,5 hours, regardless of website selling it over 6 hours

Perhaps it's time to get back to the Sales guys...
