im assuming that price is some kind of cruel miss print. Wow 12.5 starts at 1670......

update seems like they fixed the prices.

So....what is the difference between the "Latitude 14 7000 Series" and "Latitude E6430u".

    Except the processor I mean.

    1. Design (the lid primarily)
    2. CPU+GPU
    3. The 7440 supports e-series docks, the 6430u does not.
    4. The 7440 needs a dongle for VGA, but adds HDMI.
    5. The 7440 has a touch option
    6. The 7440 has a FHD 1080p option

    More specs here: http://partnerdirect.dell.com/sites...atitude-7000-Series-Ultrabooks-Spec-Sheet.pdf

Seems to confirm that there ARE two RAM slots and 8gb DIMMs are supported (phew!).

I tried to do a custom config of a E7440 through our dell premier site, looks like only I3 and I5 are available right now. (didn't give me I7 option), it also didn't give me option for a standard HD, only 64/128/256GB SSD, and also mentions MSATA Interposer. I'm guessing that it may support a MSATA SSD. Which if it does, will be good news. Meaning we can have a MSATA boot drive and a higher capacity regular 2.5" HD, although I think it only accepts 7mm HD (not confirmed yet) which limits it to 500gb. with the Samsung 840 EVO being announced recently reaching 1TB in a 7mm package, it may actually be a odd case where we can fit a bigger SSD than a HD into this machine. :)

I'm waiting for the i7 option to become available before I order. Also waiting for touch screen option. A bit disappointed they won't have the SV processors available like one of the prerelease slides shows. I was hoping for a SV quad core. Or at least the ULT with Iris graphics. Sounds like HD5000 is the best we can get in the E7240 and E7440.

    Very interesting!

Would you mind detailing some other items from the premier custom config? Specifically:

    1. What RAM options does it offer you (1 slot or 2? 16gb?)
    2. What Wi-Fi options does it offer?
    3. Bluetooth?
    4. Verizon LTE? (Or any mobile broadband?)
    5. Finally, is the 1080p non-touch available?

    Thanks!!!

    1) RAM options 1x4, 2x2, 2x4, 1x8
    2) Wifi options Dell 1506, Intel 7260
    3) Bluetooth: doesn't list anything, guessing not available yet
    4) Broadband : nothing listed
    5) Two identical 1080p options listed, same price. maybe mistake? two 1366x768 options as well, one listed as wigig capable. so maybe one of the 1080p is wigig capable just not listed properly. All non-touch.

Regarding the 7440 especially, are the Dell touch screens usually glossy or matte?
I may just say screw the nVid GPU I wanted and get a 7440 with the top Intel GPU (Iris 5000)

The pre-production sample our rep brought by a few months ago had a matte touch screen. So I'm guessing the release version will also have a matte touch screen.

Thanks! When you see the i7 option, if you wouldn't mind posting a heads up here as well? Will ask my IT dept to look into ordering one at that point as well.
