Yes two 1080p options showed on the premier site. None showed for me on the regular dell site.

Spoke to my rep today about the missing i7 option. He said from what he knows, intel has only delivered i3 and i5 ULT cpu to them thus far. they are still waiting for qty shipment of the i7 ULT cpu. He suspects it may be late September to October when we see the i7 option available. Along with the 1080p touchscreen option.

So looks like it will be September:

    http://partnerdirect.dell.com/sites/channel/Documents/Latitude-7000-Series-Technical-Guidebook.pdf

Page 14 shows that a second i5 option and the only i7 are listed as 'Wave II'. Indeed looking up the i7-4600U, looks like it won't launch until September: New Intel mobile CPUs to launch in September

Appears to indicate it will have HD4400 graphics vs HD5000 in the 4650U. I wonder if we will get more clock speed out of it then?

My guess is the i7-4600U will be a 2.0 or 2.1ghz part. The document also says only compatible with DDR3L memory and not backward compatible with DDR3 memory. that's a bummer. and if you look at the service manual, it looks like the msata interposer is just an adapter that turns the 2.5" SATA HD slot into a slot that accepts a msata SSD. not actually using the mini pcie slot as a msata slot. second bummer.

I had high hopes for this baby, was hoping they would use a 28 watt i7-4558U a 2.8ghz dual core with iris 5100 graphics, and support both a 2.5" HD and a msata ssd. but seems like neither of those will be available.

I'm not sure why they can't use a 28watt part in this given they use 35 watt parts in the E6220 and E6230 both of which are smaller and almost as thin. If they can fit a 35 watt cpu into a small form factor and have no cooling issues, then why can't they fit a 28 watt part into a bigger chassis?

This is turning out to be a big dissapointment

Yea, I was hoping for the i7-4558U as well (See upthread). That is not v-pro though, so they may not want to include that...

I'm a little annoyed that they are waiting for the i7-4600U; The 4650U seems likely more powerful, so why not use that? (Or give people the option?). It just stinks having waiting this long to need to wait until basically mid-Q4 before all the options are online and available....

I think they're going with the 4600U because its got higher CPU speeds. the 4650U has better graphics but lower clocked CPU. I believe they are going for more CPU performance vs GPU in this segment.

If they could put a quad core i7 with even HD5000 (not asking for iris level graphics) into the E7440, that would be the perfect machine (that and allowing us to use a msata ssd in the mpcie slot).

One of their pre-release sales slides mentions SV (Standard Voltage) 4th gen Core cpu, I wonder why they went back to ULV instead of SV.

Thanks for the info on that. I will have to look at upgrading my LCDs then. They are just old school 19" 4:3 DVI screens. Now I have a real reason to upgrade to some 20"+ widescreens. Or cheap out and get active adapters.

Having a standard CPU with a 3- or 4-cell battery means terrible battery life.
