Nevermind. Downloaded 158.36 drivers and they overclock well. My current clocks are 528 core / 625 mem. I get a 3dmark05 score of 4069. Is this good? I think I can push it further but I'm afraid of screwing up my laptop lol

btw, some one posted a clock speed of 700 core / 900 mem. I find that hard to believe...

Can you post your score running 3dmark 05? and what temps are you getting?

btw, I posted that I get a score of 4069 but sometimes I get 3200 on consecutive benchmarks. What's going on?

must be some sort of a power saving feature downclocking? I don't know to be honest.

I'm on XP home and want to get these straight:

    1. Which driver from laptopvideo2go is best for overclocking my 8400m GS? It looks like the latest 15x series driver for XP is 158.51

    2. What do I have to do to install these drivers? Do i need a modded INF file or is that only for 16x series? Do i have to use tools like Driver Cleaner Pro to wipe out my stock drivers?

btw, on my stock 101.28 drivers with 400/400 clocks i got 3dmark05 2427, seems really low, could something else be wrong here besides drivers?

    core2duo 1.66
    2 gig ram
    apparently 256 video mem?

Yep the 158.xx drivers seem to work well

Yes you need the modded inf file. It is available on the download page. You do not have to use Driver Cleaner but it is recommended for optimal assurance that your drivers are working.

400 core clock and 400 memory clock? The default must be 400/500. Most likely fix would be to update your drivers and run 3dmark again. I get 3100 stock on 400/500.

    Hope that helps.

I also have Vostro 1500 with 8400M-GS and the default memory clock is 400. The memory on my 8400M-GS cards do not overclock well like the others reaching to >700; I can reach to maximum ~550. Kitna, you probably have the same one as mine :(

Dsam, do you mind posting the original BIOS of your 8400M-GS here? I just want to check the memory timings and compare with my slower card. We might also increase the memory clock with the timings of faster cards.

Edit: I just added my original 8400M-GS bios for reference.
