when you set your core clock, once it kicks into 3d the clock is raised by 35 mhz. so if you overclock to 600core in the game it will be 635.

i use I8kFangui. you have to enable reading GPU temperatures in its options menu.

    I am using windows XP.

I havnt really done anything to the laptop, i will later on though. Still havnt ordered copper sheet.

    Devils.

Ok, so at the moment, I will wait.

I'm still curious why all these temperature programs are possibly reading the GPU and the CPU temps incorrectly?

Using Core Temp, I am getting about 42-48 Celcius on either Core 1 and Core 2.

    Best,
    Ilham

So with temperature worries, somehow it seems that something must be wrong...

In the desktop world at least, when overclocking heat tends to lock up a card long before it becomes critically damaging...

If these GPUs are really topping 100C doesn't it seem they should be locking up as well as burning our hands up on the keyboards?

It somehow seems much more likely to me that the temp readings are innacurate than that gpu temps are really getting as high as they look...

The 8800 series cards on the desktop easily hit over 80C. NVIDIA places a 130C threshold on the GPUs so 100C should be easily within their thermal tolerance.

So has anyone tested out the temperatures w/ a thermometer yet? Also, anyone who has taken apart their laptop, can you confirm whether the 8400m gs is GDDR3 or 2?

The ram is DDR3, RivaTuner says so, I recieved my Arctic Silver and Thermal Pads, im gonna go find a weldin shop so i can buy squares of copper. Once i get those ill open it up write down the ram info and search for it. Im hopin to lower the temps by atleast a lil bit.

If you games stutter, use riva tuner to disable Turbocache, this way the videocard wont use system ram and cause slow downs.

For the last time, RivaTuner does not correctly report info about mobile GPU's!
