Yeah!! I'm sure I won't be able to stand using a laptop with CULV processors...atom will be worse! :D

Okay - I got the 1220 today and it is one slick little machine. Really impressed so far. Battery life question was addressed by phone with tech support and with order support. Both confirmed that the 9 hour figure listed on the website is incorrect. Now - what to do. This machine seems to have great build quality. The screen is fabulous and even works pretty well outdoors in direct sunlight. Keyboard is very nice with no flex. Fan is not noisy. Will check out dvd later. Now installing all updates from windows. I like it. Now what to do about battery life....hmmm

Could someone post some pics of Vostro 1220? I have a hard time deciding what machine to buy and wanted to see some "real" pics versus prefabricated ones from dell.

Whoah whoah, what's this about CULV's being slow? The SU7300 in my Asus is comparable the the Intel T5xxx series, it's plenty fast. Sure, it lags behind some of those upper end processors, but I would definitely not consider it slow.

At one time I was considering the 1220, expect then I discovered just how thick it was, which turned me off it completely.

What brings you over here in the DELL forum? :p I was considering that unit you have in your sig btw, but need something faster and on site support for business.

Haha, I like to make an appearance on most sub forums, that and it appeared under 'New Posts'. The Asus is fairly decent, but sometimes I do wish I went for a business class notebook...

I guess it's all about individual preference....nothing against CULV or atom processors. :D

Just that in my country, laptops with CULV processors can be even more expensive than powerful processors (e.g. P8600) that the Vostro 1220 has so the value isn't there.

But of course....battery life for those CULV processors would be much better...
