I am thinking about picking up a Vostro 1220 to replace a faulty HP laptop, however, there are not many reviews about Vostro 1220 on the web, certainly not from any established review site like this one or Cnet.

Anybody has first hand experience with Vostro 1220? Please share your comments, thanks!

I have had mine for a week now and I like it!

It is super fast, light weight for a proper laptop, the keyboard is very comfortable to type on, although it does feel a bit small, which is surprising, because I thought it is a full size keyboard?

Battery life is very good and HD moives play smoothly.

I can never go back to a Netbook after using this! You can do so much more on this machine!

Configured it with 4GB, 500GB 7200rpm, 802.11n, bluetooth and a 6-cell battery. it is everything you need in a portable, business oriented laptop.

The most unsatisfying feature is the lack of stereo sounds, there is only one build-in speaker, can you believe it? Even $299 netbooks come with 2 speakers.

The only time threads about Vostros get posted is when folk have problems. Since these are rare I like to think it means the machines are reliable.

The sound is terrible and is a bit of an embarrassment on the 17 inchers, but even the best sounding laptops aren't particularly good.

Glad you like your new Vozzie.

    Vozzie? what a cute name!

So even the 17 inch Vostro laptop only comes with mono sound? That would be really strange.

The 1220 doesn't look very fancy like some other laptops on the market right now, however, I find it excel in areas that really matters: speed, weight, battery life, ease of use, simplicity, reliability and affordability.

Ah! A Vostro notebook with a colour option. However, the only option (red) adds an extra $59 to the cost.

fortunately, I like the Black option, maybe women would like the red option better.

I just setup a Vostro 1230 for a customer and I was happy with it and she is also. Been a week now. She bought for home office so the mono speaker is not an issue. She actually mutes it anyway. Her office machine is a Dell 700m, so this is slightly bigger screen and keyboard wise.

Hopefully your experience will be a joy also. Good luck with it.
