Ips screen was not available on web configuration in Uk yesterday. A rep in web chat said he had" no news" on whether it would be reintroduced. Yet we have someone on here who says he is the product manager saying there is no problem in availability. If he is as he says then what is going on? It's almost worse for dell if he is the product manager- one part of the company isnt aware of what other parts are saying or doing. This is not me trying to be nasty to dell or dell Mano- it is a valid reason to concern me when I am considering spending around 3 grand on a laptop. Is the screen available in the Uk? Will it become available in the forseeable future?
This is a premium product, a premium price so let's have some premium support/ answers/ respect for potential customers. There are other suppliers interested in my 3 grand......

I followed your instructions but when I adjust the brightness under control panel > displays but the brightness remains the same

When I use the Fn + arrow keys the slide changes but still no change in brightness!?

I do not believe Dell (or any of the other major manufacturers) messes with their pre-config machines. Once they're built, they're set aside and that's it. Perhaps Mano or somebody else on the production side could shed more light, but from some past experience with IBM/lenovo, that was their policy.

So, it's entirely possible then that your hold-up is some other part, not the IPS or the video card you want.

Quick question: to save some moolah on purchasing an M4600, I'd like to get the base HDD configuration, the upgrade it on my own. So, actually a couple of questions:

    1. Can I set up RAID *after* get the M4600?? Such a thing is not possible on the W520, according to all reports; not even a BIOS option.

    2. If I order the base HDD config -- it currently shows a 250 GB HDD -- can I switch that out to a SSD of my choice, then add a larger HDD as my second drive?? I'm sure it's doable, but can somebody please tell me the procedure?? How do I transfer the pre-installed OS and other Dell software?? I am planning to get the Dell recovery disks offered on the configuration wizard; will they have *everything*? Would they be enough??

My apologies if this has been posted before.

The IPS RGB panel on the M4600 should be on the web store, in the UK, tomorrow morning.

But you sound calm. On the other hand, nothing we can do. It seems US customers could get delivery faster.
