Why do they do that!? They did it on the Studio XPS 16 as well. It makes no sense to discontinue such a desired and sought after part.

Maybe they had lots of complaints/problems with it. I couldn't stand the mid-brightness flickering, so they initially changed the panel. Both 1st and 2nd panels had a distinct pinkish/green discolouration in the lower corners and the out-of-box white level was definitely slightly red-tinted. I don't know if the A04 BIOS would have fixed the flickering - I've requested a replacement.

This was a guy on the replacement team who said the part that they were replacing like-for-like was marked "EOL". Can't order one from the website, either.

I ran into that. I loaded control panel > displays and then I was able to adjust it there. It also started working again using the function + arrow keys.

FWIW, I'm still able to order a M4600 with IPS via my Premier Page.

I have not only been delayed once (for 45 days) and now again when I had a 7 day build date. Now it says 7/1 - I'll believe it when I see it.

This is nothing new to Dell. All the years I've been around computers they (Dell) surely knows how to FUBAR a new product launch.

I went to the 4600 configurator a minute ago and the IPS is now on a 7 day backorder/delay.

My bet is that they get rid of it due to insufficient quantity. Most, if not all, IPS and PVA displays go into large screen LCD TV's and Professional computer monitors - where they can make big bucks.

Let me set this straight, the IPS RGB panel on the M4600 is NOT EOL. We are building and shipping it today.

Actually, you are not shipping anything M4600 related today and seemingly based on an update from Dell that I just received via e-mail, you won't be shipping anything for at least another week, because you're all out of M4600 video cards, all three of them, at least in the US and based on another post to this forum, the HK markets. What's up with that? Did someone look into a bin and find a note saying, "Time to re-order!"? My system was supposed to ship yesterday and I got an e-mail _today_ telling me some of the above, I had to dig deep to uncover the actual reason for the delay (i.e., the video card shortage).

Also, if you order an M4600 today and select IPS, the customize page states that your order "may" be delayed for 7 days.
