No card will support IPS and Optimus. It's a limitation of the Intel chip, not the discreet GPU chip.

Does the m4600 come with UEFI enabled?
And how is the boot time with UEFI?

I understand that, but I can't even order a IPS screen with anything but a 2000M. Dell, once again, has their order configuration wrong. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to order a FirePro with a IPS screen.

And there is no reason we can't order the 1000M with IPS lol.

I just ordered the 2000M and complained and got $300 off + free NBD shipping so it wasn't too bad a deal.

Is it possible, on the M4600, to put in a 7200 RPM 500 GB HD (e.g., Hitachi) and an SSD like one of the Intel ones (e.g., Intel 510 which is 0.37 in / 9.4 mm high, I think) at the same time? Is there enough room?

    Thanks

Yes...as long as you swap out the optical (DVD) drive in the process...you can't do a dual hard drive plus optical drive completely inside the notebook (you'll have to get an external optical drive...)

Have you inquired about Dell's reason(s) for *not* allowing the FirePro and IPS?? Of course, you'd have to go beyond the entry-level chat or phone responders.

What's the reason everyone wants the FirePro over the Quadro 2000M anyways? They are comparable in performance, so why not just stick with the M2000?

Is the non-IPS FHD panel matte also? Also, which is brighter and has more contrast IPS or non-IPS? I am trying to decide between the options...
