Well, for me the optical drive can go (e.g., external), since there really is very little use for it other than to play DVDs and install software, a rare occurrence...

I'd guess it's the several hundred dollars extra charge for merely comparable performance when Optimus won't even work with the IPS...

You can keep the Optical Drive and still having SSD plus normal hard drive. Only thing need to do is choose mSATA/mPCIe SSD as main, and normal hard drive as secondary. 3G card can't be installed if you choose this option.

Dell offers mSATA SSD up to 128Gb, Samsung brand. You may find intel brand in ebay/amazon or other online stores.

The Quadro 2000M is almost $500 more, for one thing. Some like the FirePro for its gaming ability over the Quadros, which are more for complex yet usually static graphics.

Here's another intel mSata 310 80GB crystalmark result to add to Philip4600's one earlier.

Cheap wire tie. Not long enough to go around the power brick but its better than nothing.

This sums it up nicely. I'm tempted to get the 2000M just for the possibility that in the future, MAYBE BIOS switching would work, but that's a lot of money considering I don't need the "extra power" of the 2000M over the FirePro.

Hey, to any owner: what touchpad does the M4600 utilize? I hope it's Synaptic!

sorry to disappoint, but its a crappy alps touchpad. even though the touchpad on my x201 is almost quarter of its size, its a hell of a lot better

i mean seriously, how hard can it be to make a touchpad as good as apple's?
