if there's a regular 40pin connector in a laptop than AUO B156HW01 v.4 should work right on! The AUO display with its 95% color gammut is fantastic and better than stock Matte m4600 screen

Hey, fellas. I've created a custom Spyder3Elite color profile for a Matte Samsung M4600 display :)

If you would like to use it, please follow this steps:

    1. Download datacolor software but don't run it after installation ends!
    2. Place the custom profile into windows/system32/spool/drivers/color folder.
    3. Go to start/colour management/add a profile and set it as a default!
    4. Go to start/profile chooser/show available profiles/choose your default one first and spyder 3 elite after it)

Update: the custom profile works both in 2D (desktop) and 3D (games) applications with no problems! It sets automatically)

Thanks Red Line that could be useful to me. Is the samsung display in question the fullHD non-IPS screen? Or do I need to do some other check to see for sure whether mine is a samsung (perhaps they used more than one manufacturer for the screens?)

    Cheers!

Not sure whether anyone else has done this already, but I've just upgraded my M4600 from a 2620M to a 2760QM. I now have 4GB in each of the 4 DIMM slots (max is now 32 GB, but previously even 16GB was not achievable without throwing out my 4GB parts). Life is good.

Where did you buy the CPU?
    What slot does it uses?
Do you have a tutorial to change the CPU?

Here in Australia, Dell sells seconds on a site called Grays Online. I bought a laptop with a broken screen (an XPS L702X) and took the CPU and RAM from that.

Its a drop in replacement for the existing CPU.

Once you have the QM processor, the additional DIMM slots are usable:

    Dell does :)

    Removing The Processor

It is great that they have this philosophy (unlike Apple), and take the time to publish this documentation.

It took about 4 hours to take both machines apart and put them back together. You have to remove the keyboards of each (and for the XPS, the screen as well).

Probably you should have some thermal paste on hand.
