I'm looking for a memory upgrade, i'm currently sitting at 2x2gb. I wanted to go to 8gb but want to make sure i'm getting high quality memory that works great. Any recommendations? I see some complaints about memory but not any positives to a typical brand.

It's not installed by default, you have to purchase the option and it would be listed on your sales invoice. I'd start there if you don't see it in the device manager.

Does anyone know where I can by 8 GB memory sticks that will go into the M4500? Anyone tried this? If yes, what processor do you have?

You rarely read about it on the forum because this RAM is prohibitively expensive. Those that can justify the cost, buy it from Dell equipped with 16gigs of RAM.

Most that need extra RAM are settling for 8 gigs now (two 4 gig SODIMS), and waiting for the price to drop.

I am trying to figure out why the RAM is so expensive. The Lenovo W510 that I had was in the same boat but memory dropped within a few months. From what I see, the M4500 has been out for a while but RAM is listing at $1999 per 8GB and selling for around $999. That is not acceptable. You can get a brand new W520 with 16 GB and similar specs for around $2500

I am thinking to buy an M4500 for audio production. Seems to be a fair number of you in this lounge. Without have to read all the hundreds of posts, I thought I'd just ask the question if you have made adjustments to your bios like the C1E, SpeedStep, EIST or other adjustments. I assume that they are available on the M4500, right? If you were to choose between the M4500 or the M6500, which one would you choose?
