Precision M4500 Owner's Lounge

Because I use the biometric sensor I leave the lid cracked open enough to see the keyboard. I have been using the docking station like this since last July 2010 with no screen issues. If you're concerned you could do this.

i use these and i have blue screen and reboot...

now i'm running the dell test...memory and hdd like that tell me dell supporto to control...

 

Does anyone use a vidock with the m4500? I think im going to grab one and trying to pair it well. Don't want to overkill it if it isnt going to do me any good.

 

I'm having a problem with the laptop freezing when I close the lid. It has happened twice in the past week. I close it and come back in a couple minutes and the keyboard will light up, but no keyboard response (caps lock, etc) and I have to hard reboot.

Any thoughts?

 

what video driver are you using ? with the last nvidia ( 275 whql ) audio by displayport don't work...

 

It has now done it twice in the past three weeks. Any thoughts? It also has now done it with the lid left open.

 

i remember that happening with my m4500 once..

it is also frequently happening with my adamo even.. when your computer basically freezes, the screeen doesnt light up at all right? and obviously no response to mouse moving right? also, to turn it off at that stage, all you have to do is click the power button right? cause usally u would have to hold on to the power button for a couple seconds, but with my adamo, as soon as i just press the power button quickly it turns off and i have to start windows normally...

let me know...it might be the windows thing... FYI I have been having my laptop on 24.7 for downloading and i never allowed it to go to sleep... and then i started getting 0x000000a blue screen couple times a day...

 

This happened to me once and I reinstalled the NVIDIA driver and it went away. Now it is doing it again too for me.

Mine does not properly awake with a quick button push... have to do a hard restart.

One other factor might be turning the screen off with the power monitor and some funny interaction with the monitor... Dell 30".

 

Mine doesn't work with the quick-push either, have to hold it.

 

I tried experimenting with the screen saver and it may be an issue. I was using the photos and perhaps it was hanging for some reason on a photo. In any case, I went back to the W7 simple logo and no problems for 48h. We will see.
