Maybe that's why, I haven't installed that. I thought the system manager was one of the useless things that was recommended to not be reinstalled during a fresh install?

There is a handy set of tables near the end of the

    E-Family Re-Image How-To Guide - A02 v2 11.pdf

Which itemize features provided by the utilities and drivers.

For example, without DCP, the function keys switch display settings, but there is no pop-up superimposed on the screen.

The DCP System Manager has its uses and isn't a resource hog. It's the DCP Security Manager and the DCP Connection Manager that are resource hogs.

I'm not sure DCP Connection Manager was ever included on the M4500. Even my first 4500, delivered about a month after first customer shipments, did not have Connection Manager installed as part of the factory load.

In my view, the concern with DCP System/Security Managers relates to reliability and performance in Win 7 32/64. In my experience, these utilities caused system and touchpad stutter, caused the screen to blink, and caused the nVidia display driver to crash. I also did not care for the user interface or the lag when using the DCP tools.

Dell has recently released revised versions. Clearly they decided improvements were called for. System Manager seems re-designed; maybe it is fixed. My setup, without DCP, is very stable and responsive so I won't be experimenting with them.

    YMMV.

So, all I'm missing out on is the on-screen display of the volume/display?

Check if you have the Dell enhanced settings incorporated in your Win 7 power plans. This used to be part of DCP but is now incorporated into Windows. I don't know which part of the Dell software incorporates them into Windows.

Looks to me like it's only Windows stuff, nothing says Dell in the power plans.

If there's no Dell Enhanced Settings in the Advanced power settings of your power plans then it may be worthwhile installing DCP system manager to see if that functionality gets added (I'm assuming that Dell would treat the Precisions and Latitudes the same in this respect).

Anyone know if the M4500 screen is the same LCD used in the m15x Alienware?
I had a chance to see the m15x in person and was impressed with the blacks/viewing angle, colors of the screen.

    Regards,

    Mike

I want to ask third time.

Is there any solution to solve the problem with the cpu whining.
Or is there no one who has the same problem.
