Does BIOS correctly detect the 8GB? If so, it sounds like you are NOT booting to a a 64 bit OS. 32 bit OS's can only address to 4 gb of ram.

    Short answer: no

    Long answer:
This Newegg card is a PATA / Mini PCIe interface. The M4500 requires the SSD (card) to have the SATA II / Mini PCIe (mSATA) interface.

When you search for a SSD card, make sure you include MiniSATA and 50mm length.

    Hey guys,

Have any of you come across issues with application windows resizing when the M4500 comes out of hibernation?

Whenever my M4500 goes into hibernate mode and wakes up from it, I am able to log in and access everything normally. However, every one of my open application windows are resized to 1024x768 pixels, and are orientated to the top left of my desktop. Whenever I open an application window, including explorer, it is resized as well. This is a very annoying issue, as I have a lot of programs running for school, and it is a pain to have to spend the time to resize as much as 30-40 windows just to get some work done.

This issue appears to only happen when my M4500 is in hibernate mode. When the computer goes into sleep mode, however, everything is restored normally, including the window sizes. I don't seem to have much control over whether the computer goes into hibernate or sleep mode, because I just close the lid. There are times where I can close the lid on my computer and open it again in 12 hours, and the computer is still in sleep mode. There are also days where I close the lid for 20 minutes and it has already switched from sleep to hibernate mode. Either way, I would love to not have the resizing issue anymore, as I don't think that's normal.

    I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, with i7-720QM, 4GB RAM, and an FX-880M

Is anyone able to help me on this issue?

You do, in fact, have complete control over whether or not, and when, the computer hibernates. Check the appropriate items in your power scheme. If you want to disable hibernation entirely, type "powercfg -h off" at an elevated command prompt.

Thanks, that solves that issue, but it still leaves the issue with the application windows resizing when the computer hibernates, because it has never happened with my D810.

For starters, I have a few similarly equipped M4500's which behave normally; the windows do not resize when resuming from hibernation.

What is the size (bytes) of your hiberfil.sys file?

I can't seem to find it, where should it be located?

Should be in the top level folder of the volume/partition which has the operating system; normally the C: volume/partition.

pagefile.sys is also stored in that same top level folder.

Confirm your Control Panel -> Folder Options are set to

    > Show Hidden Files, Folders
    > NOT Hide Protected Operating System Files.

These are configured on the Folder Options View tab

my hiberfil.sys file is 2.99GB. I'm under the assumption that the file should be the same size as my physical memory, correct?
