Awesome.......would love to try a spec like yours, just to see what difference there is,my cad software apparently doesn't utilise quadcore's that well, and would benefit more from the X9100.......I can't really justify buying either,so will just have to dream and see what you have to say about the performance difference between your old and new one.:)

What type of software do you use?

I had one opportunity to test the M4400 with the FX1700?

On my configuration with FX770 is 3DMark06 score 6102(with standart settings)

the outcome of the German site is only 5363...?
    rather special

Yes,I noticed that as well.....could not find what resolution they ran it at though, they probably use the pro-version of 3dmark which can run at higher resolution than the free version.....most people with WXGA+ get around 6000 depending on cpu.

We are all awaiting m477hew's M4400 tests,as he is the only one posting here with FX 1700m on the way.

Perhaps the lower scores were with a worse CPU and 1GB RAM + bloatwared Vista? I wish the 1700M was out at my time of order, even though the price just doesn't seem to justify it. +$499 is a little ridiculous, not that it's Dells fault since Quadro's go into the thousands easily. But 20% means 1200 more points in 3DMark06, or better gaming experience. nVidia's top GeForce card right now benching at ~20000 3DMark06 points with some simple OCing is $350-$450 depending on which merchant it's bought from (some are higher OCed that others). But that is the price Quadrowners pay for "optimizing CADing".

Not realy any thing specifique Autocad with autodesk PhotoShop Games I just whanted my 3 years CC to cover all and not just part of the system after I upgrade later on like I do all the time now for this one all I need to find is a 9.5mm SATA blu ray dvd rom and I'm set I can't upgrade any thing other then a biger HDD witch I wont need I have 2 320GB external laptop drives.

I usualy just get a low spec laptop and upgrade all that I can and then sell it and start over now I jsut want to keep this one for a few years I hope I can last that long with the one system :)

    Hi
did you solve the problem with playing C&C3? I have the same problem. But it seems to me that the temperature measure is wrong. During gaming the temperatur is rising abrupt from constant 73 °C to 93°C! and the the throttle begins! With which settings do you play c&c3tw?
    sorry for my bad english

    Excellent!

    Also let us know if:

    1) You have any hard locks (I'm crossing my fingers for you!)
    2) You have any downclocking issues with the 1700m.

If no on both counts, then HUZZAH!

I'll post the benchmarks when I'm finished but so far I have had no system lockups. However, after playing UT3 on the highest settings (around 40 FPS) after about a minute it down-clocked/throttled to about 20 FPS. The FX 1700 is extremely powerful but there may be some serous problems with dissipating the heat.
