Man, no wonder Dell's market share has slipped. They have great laptops but they keep nail-gunning their feet
Give a release date already for the RGBLED screen !!!

Apple macbooks don't have Quadro's in them....so the points moot for 90% of people who buy precisions you'd think, they also don't have an RGBLED @ WUXGA either,do they ????.......I couldn't find any reference to it on their website.

Weegie did you get a chance to benchmark your Quadro on 3DMark06? Mine did surprisingly well on a recent XP test.

Have run it a couple of times [not for a while] from memory 5960....somewhere around there, with dell's drivers.....I haven't tried any other drivers as the dell one's seem very stable and perform well enough.:)

Got my coolslice today, will have a bit of run with it in some game tonight and see if it reduces the temp any......certainly much better to use on your lap without having to bother about not blocking vents though.....also much much cooler to use on your lap.

I've found that Dell drivers work the best! LV2G drivers make my computer suffer :(.

6023 on XP! Can't wait to try some games on here.

Any chances that this new RGB LED screen uses a non TN panel (best would be IPS)?

Because if it still is a crappy TN panel (of course, some TN are better than others, but they all are bad compared to a good xVA or IPS panel)...

Btw, is there a notebook using a non TN panel on the market?
Maybe the HP 8730w Dreamcolor, but it's too big...

Even if they use a TN panel, wont the color contrast etc still be better than a lamp lit TN ?
The viewing angles would still suck but eh, we'll have some improvement ?

Not sure about the color because if the panel is good you can already have very accurate colors and wide gamut with ccfls (have a look at this review of the 24'' HP LP2475W for an example), but the contrast should be better and the backlight could be more homogeneous...

The worse with my laptop (HP 6910p, 14'' 1440x900 TN panel) are the viewing angles (by slightly moving your head up or down you immediatly see a color shift) and the small gamut (not even wide enough for srgb), that's why I'm looking for a laptop (max 15'') with a non TN panel (the best would be IPS).

Do they make laptops with non-TN panels ?

Note that there is a wide variation amonsgt TN panels.
Thinkpad 14.1" SXGA+ and dell 15.4" XGA panels I've seen have been absolutely horrid.
I have seen a macbook panel and it was also bad. On the other hand, my 17" WUXGA dell panel is pretty darn nice, good viewing angles. I did see a couple of 15.4" dell WUXGA panels and they were also nice (a notch below the 17").
Of corse, IPS panels still reign supreme
