Thats the one.....apparently clips on using the docking fixtures, seems like a good thing for someone like me that only uses a desk at work and uses, lap, bed, couch all other times.

I've said it probably three times already that the LCD back is NOT PLASTIC,so I pulled mine apart and took the following admittedly bad nighttime/cellphone pics and it is definitely a cast magnesium part as proved by the alloy filings and the fact it has the recyclable "Mg" symbol cast into it,if you can see it in the picture under the Foxconn #2.

Hopefully that will put to rest the misconception that the M4400 is covered with a plastic screen cover once and for all

Awesome find grio, makes me smile how pc people find workarounds in the most obscure ways or places.:)
Hopefully this will be fixed in a driver revision,so we don't have to keep disabling built in speakers to listen to half decent external output.

Thought mine was plastic too at first. But after having been powered down for like 2 hours it felt totally metallic cold.

    Hey guys -

I have been seriously considering an M4400 for the past week, and went to the site today to have another look.

I noticed this as a config option:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Quad QX9300 (2.53GHz, 12M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) [add $770]

thought u might be interested - I am not for that price!!!

i started a thread on this, some people who replied said it would exceed the thermal budget. no idea where they're getting their facts from, since its obviously available. i might upgrade in future...i know a few places in singapore where i can get my hands on laptop processors

Yeah you would expect Dell to test the quadcore setup before makin it available right? But who knows...maybe they're just a bit too positive...mistakes are made sometimes ;)

Actually, it is plastic, but you can feel the metal chassis underneath. If you want to check, you can try take the screen bezel off, but be very careful. I did :)

Are you denying the physical evidence Weegie provided?
