I can't find the ACPI temperature in Speed fan. I don't know where it is or it doesn't have it.

By the way, I have a Western Digital 320 GB HDD at 7200 rpm with Free Fall sensor. It produces a whooshing noise whenever it reads/writes. Is this normal? I talked to the rep over the phone and he said that a loud noise in general is expected but when I asked him about the whooshing noise he didn't know what I was saying or he never heard the sound in person. He said that WD would only replace defective drives so I should go back to the store.

In short, I want to know if this noise is normal when the blue HDD activity LED lights up.

ACPI temperature is about 45 to 47 deg C according to CPU hardware monitor.

Also, my HDD is 36 degrees. So I don't think the whooshing noise is from the fan.

Under the Control Panel > Power Options page, open the Plan Settings for the Power Saver scheme. Click the advanced tab and scroll down to Wireless and change that from "Maximum Power Saving" to "Maximum Performance." (You may be able to use medium or low power saving to keep the BT powered on as well, but the Max Performance would definitely do it).

I have 2 WD Scorpio Black's in my laptop, and neither makes any noise; the only noise the system makes is that of the fans. I'd be wary of any other sound coming from the HDD.
