The computer comes as-is with some bloatware (namely Dell's Controlpoint) although this may vary country by country.

The vista / xp installation dvds that come with the notebook, are completely bloatware free, and gives an absolute minimal (well, except for windows' own crap) installation.

The disks are normal Windows disks, nothing installed at all.

As far as the install, the only bloatware was Google Toolbar and Google Desktop. Everything else had a function, Controlpoint, Roxio, PowerDVD. I reinstalled almost everything except the Dell Controlpoint Security Manager and Connection Manager. I didn't need the Connection Manager since I don't have WWAN, and I didn't need the Security Manager since I will never use the Smartcard reader, and I don't have a fingerprint reader.

So very little bloatware. I was using Vista btw.

Has any one managed to or been able to improve Aero Performance ? my xps 1330 fell so much faster under vista than my m2400... got to be a driver issue, but have upgraded to the latest forceware for laptop2go and it is no better...

Stick with Dell drivers. I lost 200 points on 3dMark06 when I went to a newer version of the forceware. It also caused my windows to studder when minimizing.

I can't seem to find spare batteries on dells website. Do you?

And could someone tell me what to do when my m2400 arrives, should i re-install my OS to get rid of extra programs or what? and is that even possible since i ordered the XP downgrade?

I'd love to see some graphics comparisions between the new latitudes/precisions. I may be consitering one once they go into the outlet.

i ordered my m2400 with XP downgrade. there wasn't much bloatware on it at all except for Dell Controlpoint. if you wish u can do a re-install. it comes with both an XP install disk, and a vista install disk. either of which will need to be followed by a drivers reinstall (yet another dvd, or via the web once you have the network chipset drivers installed)
