Very nice, but it won't fit in the 7530, which has a smaller DGFF. It might fit in the 7730, though:

Now we know Dell is committed to its DGFF and it wasn't a one-off for the Precisions (thank goodness); I hope we see Quadro RTX upgrades for the Precisions. I also hope the RTX 2060 is in the smaller form factor (may not be, because Dell would probably only produce it for the Area-51M, which means it'll probably use the larger version which would only fit in the 7730 once again).

Tfw when even DGFF isn’t standardized across product lines...

I suppose they were mimicking MXM which had two sizes, A and B. The Precision 7730 does have the larger DGFF:

However, it looks very dissimilar to the DGFF in the A51M:

Notes: Precision DGFF has a short 45° angled notch; this one is a lot more obtuse. The power and data connectors are elsewhere, too, as well as the former being much larger than that in the Precisions. I doubt it'll be compatible, if at all...

I got it installed and working even though the Windows Store said it's not compatible. Here's how:

    1) Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/p/d...h=1&wa=wsignin1.0&activetab=pivot:overviewtab

    2) Click the ellipses next to the "install/open" button, check mark your machine and let it install.

    3) Once it's installed, open the app. You'll see a notice that the required drivers are missing. That will take you to https://www.dell.com/support/home/ca/en/cadhs1/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=6P0DG. Download the file.

    4) Open the file, but chose the extract open rather than install.

    5) Go to the folder that was just extracted and double-click the driver .exe.

    6) Run Dell Mobile Connect again and you should be set.

We'll have to wait for the next-gen Precisions and see if they use the same form factor for the mobile Quadro RTX cards.

I was thinking on this and I think there are two possible timelines for the next-gen Precision arrival. It totally depends on what Intel does, since Dell follow's Intel's CPU refresh cycle and has never introduced a new line of GPUs (for Precision) out of band from that.

    * Intel releases a full line-up of mobile 9th gen CPUs — if this happens, I think we'll start seeing them around April and the Precision could come out around June/July, the same schedule as last year with 8th gen

    * Intel decides to skip on the full set of 9th gen mobile CPUs (this previously happened with 5th gen) and wait until Ice Lake is released to put out the full set. If this happens, Intel has committed to having Ice Lake (for mobile) on shelves by the end of the year, but it will probably be early next year before we get the full set (high-end CPUs including Xeons). I think we might see a Precision 7740 teased at CES 2020 and released in February/March in this case, as was the case with the Precision 7520/7720 back in 2017.

I'm thinking that the latter is more likely, they seem to be throwing their full weight behind Ice Lake at this point, and 9th gen didn't bring too much to the table on the desktop side (higher clocks/core counts paired with higher prices, no real architectural improvement). All this to say, we quite possibly won't know what's going to happen with graphics card upgrade possibilities for a good while yet.

Is there anyone using the TB16 dock 240w power supply with their 7730. Does it charge the laptop using USB-C without plugging in the power for the laptop?

I tried searching but couldn’t find an answer.

Before I ordered my 7730 I asked the same question and I was told that the TB16 wouldn't charge it. So I bought a TB18DC with a dual TB connection. It does power the laptop, so I keep the power supply for on-the-road usage.
