Looks like a new BIOS release is out, 1.10.7
Let's hope it fixes the blue screens I've been getting randomly since the last BIOS update...

    Edit: Adding the fixes/enhancements:

    - Fixed Free Fall Sensor application shows disabled when both HDD and SSD attached.
    - Fixed PXE boot issue in legacy mode via DA200.
    - Fixed Dell legacy E-dock external display problem at legacy boot mode.
    - Fixed incorrect WWAN device status in BIOS setup menu.
    - Fixed Dell dock still functional issue when set dock item disabled in Bios setup.
    - Fixed legacy E-dock behavior when power on system with LID close.
    - Fixed "Clear TPM" Option may sometimes be greyed out in BIOS setup.
    - Fixed "Enable Attempt Legacy Boot" item cannot be enabled in BIOS setup.

    Enhancements:
    - Updated Embedded Controller Engine Firmware.
    - Updated Intel Processor Micro code.
    - Updated Intel Video BIOS.
    - Enhanced LAN supportability for Dell dock.
    - Improved boot time at no Intel Management Engine support environment.

I have Dell Precision M4700 and it is too noisy in idle as for me. It just speeds up fans from time to time, during what I consider idle operation. Unfortunately it then focuses my attention on fans. It starts fan with max speed to slow it down after a second. Now please tell me if Dell M7510 is better in idle? I mean web browsing, web pages scrolling, h264 movie watching, Word-document writing, writing programs in text editors/Ecipse-ide etc? I don't want to spend money on M7510 if it also spins up fans in above-mentioned activities. Actually I found a web review of Dell M7510 which states idle noise to be 29.8-31.2dB(A) which I think is acceptable. So I consider buying this laptop. My current Dell M4700 even occasionally spins up fans when I write something in Notepad++, let alone fast srolling web-pages in FireFox.
Also I hope that M7510 does not start fans with max speed from the start (in idle)?
However I accept that the laptop can be noisy when I encode video, compile programs using multi-threads - such tasks does not require my attention and noise does not irritate me then.
I hope for some comments on M7510 idle noise in mentioned scenarios. Thanks.

This is normal behavior with the M4700 and M6700 (unfortunately). I have resolved it somewhat on my M6700 by setting the thermal mode to "Quiet". (Thermal mode shows up in Windows Power Options advanced settings, if you have the "Dell Feature Enhancement Pack" installed.) I think the problem is not so much the noise that comes from the fan, but rather the noise that the fan makes when it kicks on — it kicks the speed up abruptly and seems to ramp up higher than needed for a few moments, and it is rather distracting. (And it often seems like it can't decide if it wants to keep the fan at the low speed or medium speed, so you can hear it switching all of the time.)

Newer models, including M4800/M6800 and 7510/7710, do not have this problem. Even when the fan kicks on, it does not come on with such an obvious spinning up sound. I rarely notice the fan in my 7510.

Finally got my 7510 with 6820 and 2000M and actually have fans-related observations/questions:

    1. Installed clean Windows 10 Pro with drivers from Dell website + Dell Command Power manager + immediately updated BIOS to the latest 1.10.7.
And have strange glitch - even with "Quiet" mode fans gradually spin up to 2600RPM and keep that speed despite CPU temp being around 35C and load around 10%.
Then I open Power Manager again, switch thermal mode to anything else - and fans go to expected 0RPM or below 1000RPM (to spin up sometime later, perhaps hour or more). It's really driving me nuts as at 2600RPM it's perhaps worst tone, with high frequencies in the sound.
    Anyone else seen this problem?

    2. Observation - both fans spin up to max as soon as you have load either on CPU or GPU, which is totally pointless. If I have CPU-only task running - WTF spinning GPU fan keeping it at 20C.
To me sounds like a bug / firmware development overlook.

Overall feelings about machine - good, but not excellent. As many pointed out keyboard is really ****ty - overall feel, gaps between keys and body, etc.. not to mention Home/ End.
My 5 years old HP 6560b which is supposedly lower class has waaay better keyboard. Unification and globalization (ugh), but for $2k+, really?

    I have a 7510, GPU is the M2000M and the CPU is a 6820.

The only time that I really notice the fans is when I startup a game or when I am doing exports in Adobe Lightroom. Light stuff like web browsing, watching videos or word processing, the only sound that I hear is the occasional spin-up sound from the 2TB mechanical hard drive installed.

    Disclaimer,
I have a bit of hearing damage but the people that I share a table with don't have any complaints with fan noise when we are in quiet coffee shop for meetings.

Thanks for the reply. Could you tell which BIOS and Windows version do you operate so that the laptop is quiet? Thanks.
For example I intend to use Windows 8.1 if that makes a difference regarding FANs' noise.

    Hello everyone.

I want to engrave Russian characters on a keyboard of my laptop. I know there is at lease one member who has a laptop with Russian keyboard. But because I am a new member I can not send private messages. Please somebody post a photo of such a keyboard.

    Thanks.
Could you take a closer photo with about 2-3 keys? I would like to identify the font.
