I hope for you this time the screen is good...

Seems a clean install is not advised...

Been using it for a few hours, love the screen, I think this one is a keeper.

I also solved the fingerprint reader issue. The "broken" Windows install was actually moved off of my M4800. At some point, a corrupt INF file landed at "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\cvusbdrv.inf_amd64_806dbf5cc530a266" (this is the driver for the fingerprint reader itself). I had to crawl around in the Windows installer log from the ControlVault installer for a while to find this. Once I moved the good file over from the "working" Windows install, I ran through ControlVault setup again and it worked. Fingerprint reader presents itself in device manager and I can use it to log in now.

I think that takes care of everything... Finally happy with the 7510. (Except keyboard layout.)

Just got mine. Quick question: is the UltraSharp FHD display supposed to look like a retina display or is it just a standard 'pixelized' display. I have an M3800 with a retina like display and was expecting the fhd thing to be the same. I did pay 237€ for this display :( is this normal or have they made a mistake and sent me a standard dispaly?. I really don't like it this way. It looks like an old display !!!

Not sure what "ultra shard FHD display" is, but if the display your ordered said "FHD", that means full-HD or 1080p, which is not retina-class.

I guess I messed up. to have the retina like display like on the m3800 I should have gotten the IGZO screen which has greater DPI since retina stuff means higher dpi per inch. I was going for it first but wanted to get the touh screen too. Man I screwed up :-(
Anyone with an ultrasharp FHD IPS to confirm it's far from the retina display?

Sorry I meant UltraSharp. But yes I messed up. Not sure what my options are now as I hate this kind of screen. I've been using the m3800 for almost three years now and the display is just great. I did notice the resolution difference between the IGZO and the FHD but I didn't give it much thought :-(

You will have to return the system and order a different one with the correct screen, or try to replace the screen yourself. I just went through a display replacement (accidentally ordered the non-IPS display) and it is very straight-forward. The hardest part is actually selecting and locating a good panel to purchase.

Replacing the screen may not be an option, I'm not sure if the 4K/UHD screens and the FHD screens use the same cable/connector.

Well I bought it as a profesional and not as a consumer. And Dell does not accept returns in this case. I will try with them and see if they can arrange a screen replacement or an exchange. the last option is to sell it and get another one. this thing cost me more than 3000€.

for the record the m3800 screen I got has a resolution of 3200 by 1800. I should have bought the IGZO screen which has a resolution of 3840 by 2160.

All the more reason to ignore marketing terms like retina, and understand what the technology actually is or refers to (in this case, a screen with a higher resolution/denser ppi than a standard FHD/1080p screen).
