Well, the Dell part number for the 201 is M6XR1. I didn't get the shorthand Samsung number. The 001 is FYTXT, which is the screen you were quoting me from the Alienware I believe. Then again, I've seen these parts used interchangeably with the Dell part numbers. The EDID info still might be saved, I'll investigate later and report back.

LQ156M1 is the value I used when I was searching for a replacement panel... Couldn't find one :(

    Hey guys,

I was looking for a second battery for my 7510 but couldn't find any :(

In detail I'd like to plug a second battery to the dell-docking-station connector or the thunderbolt connector so I can go longer offline.

On my old Lenovo W520 I had a second battery which connected to the docking station port: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-replacement-lenovo-42t4739-battery/dp/B00C3M302I.

It was a charm!! Running almost 8h under good CPU load without power sockets nearby.

Does anyone know if Dell offers such a battery OR
if there is a Thunderbolt extrnal battery available?

    thx
    Soko

There was a "battery slice" for the M4700/M6700/M4800/M6800 that used the dock connector. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...s&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=312-1351&mfgpid=226919

The dock connector is the same on the 7510/7710, but it has been moved to the very back of the laptop, so the battery slice would hang off the end if you tried to connect it.

Also my M4800 always showed a second battery disconnected (which would be this battery slice) but my 7510 does not, so I'm not sure that it would work even if you could connect it physically.

Ohh yeahh... thats exactly what I mean. But as you said, not for the 7510 :(
And the search on the Dell website is crap. If I enter "Slice" or "battery slice" it doesn't show the one you posted.
On the official accessories page of the 7510 is nothing as well.
I hope they are going to do a slice for it!

    Me three.

Ordering at the end of the month and @Div033 's panel adventure is giving me a tinge of doubt on the machine and makes me wonder if the 5510 will be a better choice because of the "Premium" panels.

I really don't intend to incite doom and gloom among potential buyers, really. I think I'm just notoriously picky, and want as close to perfection as I can get... especially when I'm planning to keep a machine for 5+ years (I hate laptop shopping, if you couldn't tell already).

The LG panel that came with the device so far has been the best of the bunch, despite the very prominent vertical line/screen door effect. I've seen people report on this thread that they've not had this issue, so it's possible I'm in the minority or, again, am just too picky. If anything, I think my experiences spells out the state of aftermarket panel replacements being a nightmare. I seriously wish buying a new laptop panel was as easy and mainstream as buying a new desktop monitor. It's such an important piece of the puzzle and yet manufacturers treat it like panel specs don't really matter. I suppose it benefits them to do so, but still.
