What m.2 form factor do the laptops support?

There was a previous post that mentions that the 7710 supports 2280, but nothing about the 7510, and the specs are not detailed enough (disappointing). I'm specifically interested in the 7510 with a Samsung Pro 950 512gb.

7710 and 7510 both support 2280. 7710 can hold two M.2 SSDs but 7510 can just hold one. You should be able to add a second SSD to the 7710.
Both systems can hold an additional M.2 SSD in the 2.5" drive bay, with an appropriate mounting bracket and interposer (not sure if you have to purchase separately).

    Congrats!

Are you in the US? If so how long did it take you to get it? Just to verify it does not come with a Thunderbolt 3 port?

    Best Regards

Apologies if this was already posted, but is there a confirmed date for the dock release? And for Thunderbolt 3, is "Jan 2016" as specific a date as we have?

The 7710 should be able to push 3 x (2560x1440) or 2 x (3440x1440) without issue, right? What about 2 x (3840x2160) 4ks? I'll likely get the dock regardless, but would it be required for any of these?

First Dell sales rep I spoke to initially told me I'd need the highest level graphics card for just the 3 2560x1440 (then he backtracked a little). Will be running 2-3 VMs at all times using VMware Workstation, but no gaming or other graphics-heavy work. Any advice appreciated.

You can use the existing E-Port docks. The PR02X has two DisplayPorts, which can push 2x 4K displays.

If you're talking about the Thunderbolt dock, the release date we have for that is "early-ish 2016". And Thunderbolt 3 is "January 2016" as you said.

As for further external display options, that's currently not clear. With NVIDIA GPU, the M6800 can push to only three external displays, and one of them has to be VGA. Internal can still be active as well, so you can do 2x(DP or DVI or HDMI) + VGA + internal display. VGA probably won't work with 2560x1440, but it will work with 1080p. Not sure if this has been improved for the 7710. With AMD GPU, you can use 3xDP (two on the dock and one on the system).

Got my 7510 last night and would really like to post a positive review but.... It worked just long enough to get the OS set up and added to the domain. On reboot there is no display at all... no Dell logo.. nothing. Looks like I'll be returning it and wait for the bugs to get worked out before I order again.
