So, for those of us who purchased the 5510 what options do we have to bring this up to a better standard? We can switch out the RAM to ECC, replace hard drive with 950 Pro but the increased power usage makes that seem potentially unwise. Processor is soldered so that really isn't an option to go to the 1545. Thoughts?

Of course, I'm still fighting with the damn software just to get video to play.... grrrrrrrr!

ZBook Studio is clearly a more feature rich product than Dell 5510 - definitely the one I'll be purchasing. BTW, I read somewhere that the Intel 1545M will also have a higher clock speed than 1535M so its not just the Iris Pro graphics being different.

I've been unable to find anyting about the E3-1545M - does anyone have any links on the CPU?
If the E3-1545M really will be an option for 5510, the price will go up with like 300-400$ and also delivery time. Please Dell, what can we expect a full list with options? It would suck to wait 2-3 months for nothing, only to see the 7510 with the bigger CPUs.
The 7510 and 5510 have never had the same options - and already the 7510 has the 1535M - true?

Phinehas, are you saying 5510 doesn't support ECC, or only stating you can't currently order it with ECC?

I don't really worry about ECC memory in a laptop. It's just not a real world problem for me. The i7-6820-HK processor I ordered is nearly the same as the i7-6820-HQ DELL is offering, except the HK is the frequency unlocked version, while the HQ has TPM support. (neither of which I care about) The Oryx is an all aluminum chassis with a pretty similar keyboard layout. Past System 76 keyboards have been pretty nice and have less flex than keyboards from prior Precision models. I don't know if DELL has been able to fix the keyboard flex with their newer models. I don't like the Thinkpad nipple or the buttons below the keyboard on the DELL laptops. I don't use them and they get in my way.

The Oryx monitor is a true matte IPS display with g-sync support. I THINK the precision is a matte display, but until I see it, I can never be sure. I've seen "anti-glare" displays from DELL that look like a mirror.

I don't mean to knock the precision. I owned many over the years and I currently own a M3800 that I love. I just don't see why one is more "premium" than the other unless having ECC memory or a 4k monitor are really important to you. They are not for me. As I said before, ECC memory is a waste of money for my use case and I am too old to use a 4k monitor without scaling everything up to the same size it would be on an HD display. Even at 17".

As far as supporting Linux, the announcement on Oct 1 claimed they would support Ubuntu and Redhat. I have yet to see a Linux option on either the 7500 or 7700 series. I am not willing to throw another Windows license in the trash and hope that the hardware in my "Windows" laptop is compatible with the Linux distro that I will manually install.

The e3-1545m is not yet released nor do we know the specs.

It's probably going to be lower clocked with Iris pro graphics to stay within the 45w tdp.

No, the 5510 does support ECC, but it is my understanding that it is not available at this point. Similarly, the 5510 supports 32 GB RAM but 16 GB DDR4 RAM modules are unavailable hence the current 16 GB max.

This is correct - it's been reiterated five or six times in this thread already.

How do you like the Oryx Pro? How is the build quality and battery life?

I see shipping dates 4-10 days ECC modules. 4-8 GB single channel from Kingston and Crusial. 4-8-16 GB from Transcend at my local dealer now

I'm trying to clear my mind, if its worth waiting for a chance of Iris Pro with the 1545M.... HP says 1H2016, so anywhere from 1-7 months of wait... :(
Not to repeat myself, but, who says 5510 will get the option and not only +7510

I need the new Dock in order to connect it at work as well o_O
