That is good news. It also states x16, meaning that there are 16 lanes available, so in theory the M2 PCIe SSD will be the fastest you can get (depending on the SSD itself of course)

I am ready to order a 5510 precision, but have no clue what hard drive to choose. The options given in the Netherlands are confusing. Options in the UK and Germany are identical to those in the Netherlands.

If anyone (Dell_Mano?) can explain the differences that would be helpful:In Dutch/UK/German configurator I see the following options (only 512GB shown):
    • 512 GB 2,5-inch 7mm SATA SED Solid State Drive [add € 231,00]
    • M.2 PCIe 512GB SSD [add € 331,80]
    • 512 GB 2,5-inch SATA Solid State Drive [add € 331,80]
    • 512 GB 2,5 inch krachtige (Eng probably: high performance) SATA Solid State Drive [add € 392,70]
    • Adata DP900 2,5 inch SSD 512 GB (6 Gb/s SATA, MTBF of 1 miljion hour [CS]) [add € 353,50]
    • Adata OPAL 2,5 inch SSD 512 GB (6 Gb/s SATA, MTBF of 1 miljion hour[CS]) [add € 567,00]
I understand OPAL: this is a self-encrypting drive (SED), but the first one in the list is also an SED.
I tried to search for "Adata DP900", but no search engine could find this drive, what is this ?
The "high performance" drive sounds good, but I have no idea what "high performance" means exactly in this context.
Theoretically the M.2 PCIe drive could be the fastest, but no details are given.

My question is: what are the differences between all these options and what is the fastest drive in this list?

All of the drives in the list appear to be 2.5" SATA drives, except the second one, which is a PCIe M.2 drive.
The last two drives appear to be specific models (Adata is a drive manufacturer). I couldn't find DP900, I wonder if they meant SP900.
All in all it is rather confusing, not sure why they would offer so many variants of the 2.5" 512GB drive.

Anyway, the M.2 drive has the fastest theoretical performance (impossible to know for sure without knowing the actual models used), and getting the M.2 drive will also allow you to get the high capacity battery, which is larger and physically consumes the space used by a 2.5" drive, if that matters to you.

Will the new machines work with the old docks ( E-Port Plus Port Replicator )?

I realize that the port replicators based on Thunderbolt will be "better," but those will not be out for a while and I would only want to buy this machine if I can use it in my existing docking station.

Confirmed earlier in the thread, the systems will work with current docks (except 5510).

Just one question about configuring 5510 on Dell US website.
I was able to choose a SATA harddrive and a 81wh battery, is that ok? My understand is that the bigger battery is available for m2 drives..

No, this appears to be a configuration error. Another poster in the 5510 thread was complaining that such orders are getting lost without a status.

I was referring to the Dell US 5510 vs Dell Canada 5510. I have attached the two quotes of similar build. The Dell US 5510 comes to USD$2166 (~CAD$2880) while the Dell Canada 5510 comes to CAD$4070 (~USD$3060)

Is the fingerprint scanner available on the 5510? Is there a port replicator on the bottom of 5510? Can't find any pics of the 5510 bottom

No, only the 7510/7710 have the bottom docking connector.
