The main problem will be that the new Precisions have their dock connector pushed right to the back of the machine, so the slice battery will stick out a huge amount.

Didn't Dell Mano already post some of this information in one of the threads?

Edit, maybe not - spent a few minutes looking and couldn't find the post I was looking for. Sorry for the false alarm.

He did, I think he outlined the various SSD performance categories but did not give any specific numbers or models.
(Can't find the post off hand but it's in one of the threads that were really active when the new Precisions were formally announced.)

    The categories given were:
The choices offered in the configurator do not make clear which choice is which category. As the performance can differ exteremely (as Mano_G is saying) it is important that we get this information from Dell.

People (including my SMB rep) indicate "mid-November" (whenever that is) but really January 2016 if you want a Thunderbolt 3 port (which I can't imagine ordering a machine of this magnitude without).

Thanks. I thought it was just the Thunderbolt dock that was Jan 2016. Is this port(s) on a daughter card or motherboard?

I ordered the 5510 which currently comes with the Thunderbolt 3 port, so I'm confused why Dell can't make it available on the 7710? Surely they are the same port.
