You understood what I meant. There's no reason to use a feeble universal app unless you want to take advantage of close integration with your phone. Trouble is, nobody wants a Windows Phone.

No, it's not. The fact that there are universal app companions to the real Office applications is a different matter. Currently there's no way to replace Win32 simply because the APIs for universal apps are woefully lacking. In simple words, there's no way to build real Windows applications based on the feeble WinRT runtime. Until that changes, nobody is interested in universal apps.

This is getting far off-topic, though, and I apologize for the distraction. Feel free to comment, but for myself I'll stop this branch at this point.

This is not very soon as we were led to believe. Considering the new XPS 15's are shipping already and they have the same screen as the Precision 5510 it seems unlikely the screens are causing the delay.

Where, how. I can't see any such option on the German Dell website? It does show 5510 and 7510 on the list, but no option to run the configurator and place the order.

EDIT: ah, they are there allright, not for 7710's thought.
    But 7510 for example:
    http://www.dell.com/de/unternehmen/p/precision-m7510-workstation/pd?oc=xctop7510emea

EDIT 2: interesting, the 7510 configurator only allows Windows 7 Pro... No Windows 10??

EDIT 3: a lot of drives to choose from. Does anyone know the exact models for the M.2 SSD's? Would those be Samsung 950 Pro's by any chance? There's 2 options for these SSD's - a normal one, and a slightly more expensive one tagged with 'High Performance'.

The US configurator has Windows 10, as opposed to the German one.
But there's a huge difference in the ship days - German says 1 to 3 days, US says 26-30 days. Interesting.

EDIT: The Polish Dell website also has 7510's, 3-4 days till shipping time. So at least this one seems to have been officially released worldwide, more and more country websites getting updated.

I do wonder what the story is with the 7710's... We'll see.
