Is there a good rule of thumb as to how long? I'm fine waiting a bit.

I'm not sure if all the config options are up yet anyway. I was expecting to see more CPU choices in the 7510 but there was only three (one i5, one i7, one Xeon). I was configuring a 7510 for fun and noticed that you cannot get the fingerprint reader with the i5, but you can with the i7 (why would the CPU matter?). It cites incompatible palm rest.

Looks like Xeon for the 7510 is the fastest Intel makes. Faster than what I saw in the 5510. Also, 64GB(!) of RAM. Glad to also see 4K screens available from the start.

What's the gamut of the 4K screens and are they 30-bit panels? Even Apple has 30-bit panels now.

In the configurator you can only have the large battery if you select the M2 SSD, no 2.5 inch disk allowed. Are there any figures on battery duration with the small versus the high capacity battery?

It's probably impossible to get such figures given that nobody has any of these systems yet, detailed testing would be required.
I would think, however, that given the fact that these are more of workstations and less of mobile, having an option of throwing in a 2.5" drive is more important that having a slightly longer battery life - most people probably won't be using these in the field / travel most of the time. You, however, may have your own, specific requirements.
That is, if there actually is a correlation between the battery choice and the drive slot, I'm slightly surprised at this, it could be that the configurators may need some tweaking still.

    From http://www.tomsitpro.com/articles/dell-skylake-precision-workstations,1-2925.html

"With the exception of the Precision 3510, all of these new laptops have the option to come with an UltraSharp IGZO display. These displays support[IMG] UHD 4K resolutions and provide 100 percent of the minimum Adobe color gamut, giving you superior color reproduction compared to the other display options."

On the new XPS 15, if you select the large battery you lose the 2.5 bay as well (the battery extends enough to take its place), so I assume the same will happen with the 5510 since it's basically identical.
There it makes some sense, because it's a pretty thin laptop and all that, makes 0 sense on the 7510 though.

It's a safe assumption that the 5510 is like the M3800, where the larger battery actually physically consumes the space where the 2.5" drive would go. So you have to choose 2.5" drive or larger battery, but not both.

they are a full aRGB gamut 8bit per primary ( 24 bit panel ) and significantly better gamut range than the rMBP

incorrect on one point though , Apple only goes to 8 bit per primary ( 24 bit color ) or 16.7 million colors, even the external Apple Cinema Display and iMacs are 24 bit. one way to know there is no 30 bit color is if there is an intel IGP anywhere as they do not support 10 bit ( no graphics switching )

to my knowledge the only CURRENT laptop with a 10bit per primary ( 30 bit color ) is the HP Zbook 17 with the optional Dreamcolor 2 IPS screen upgrade. an easy way to check is if your panel or external supports 1.1 billion colors and not 16.7 million.

and you also don't tend to get accurate 30 bit color on any platform unless you use ISV certified drivers off of a Quadro, Tesla or FirePro GPU.
