Well, 1600/CL11 is about the same performance as 1333/CL9. I'm waiting for 1333/CL7. And these modules from eBay are expensive - I hope for much lower prices :)

Didn't test it yet. Right now I'm using it as an additional drive.
There are 2 things I will test (in the future): as boot drive and with a RAID of 2 other SSDs (replace the SAMSUNG 256GB SSD and the 500GB HDD with 2 600GB Intel SSDs or sth. like that).

    Cheers,
    Alex

Sounds good, ive just bought two 8gb samsung sticks for 108 euros, on the look out for another two now. Not so bothered about the speed but I will still max out 32gb.

Next upgrade is gonna be to give a M4 Crucial 512 gb SSD a go in place of the origional.

    Quick question for M6500 owners:
Where is the inverter located exactly, and what does it look like?

    Many thanks.

Edit: I ask because I've recently replaced the screen since the original had suffered damage, however the display is dim - which is something I did not anticipate. I figured this may be attributed to the inverter, unless a far-fetched solution is required like a BIOS update.

    Quick answer:
It doesn't have an inverter because it has a LED backlight not a CCFL backlight.

So what would be the culprit in this instance, as the replacement screen is brand new?
Could the display cable cause something such as a dim display?
Everything works perfectly on an external monitor of course.

Just a quick question, does the momentus XT 500gb or 750gb XT need a special format when installed to be use under win7 x64?.
Should I see a real performance increase?.
Main use it will be to speed up booting times and to launch software faster.
What is exactly an advance format?
    Thanks

    Hi all,

Has anyone made or come across a replacement parts list for the M6500?

I'm talking about everything from hinges, bezels, plastics, screws... everything. Dell used to have some for older models.

Is there a repository somewhere for M6500 drivers that cannot be found on the Dell website?
I'm specifically looking for drivers and software to get the webcam working and some sort of driver or inf file for the display panel (I have the LGD0241 which is show as generic in Windows).

That's odd, they should have it all. I actually picked up a used m6500 on ebay (came today) and a stock Win7 Ultimate install had most of the drivers. The only drivers I had to specifically hunt for were the "Broadcom USH" (security thing) and the TI card controller. Both were on dell.com.

My webcam worked on install. At least the driver is in.
