Thanks for this question, Ben! I am contemplating the exact same upgrade for the exact same reason. I look forward to an answer from one of the gurus here, and I hope you will report back on how the upgrade worked if you go with the cheaper DIMMs. Like yourself, I'm tempted by the cheaper memory, but the m6500 seems to be a very finicky machine!

    Thanks,
    xPat

    Ben,

Did you try upgrading to 32gb with the CT2KIT102464BF1339's? Did it work?

    Thanks,
    xPat

Same Quadro card.... and wondering the same about Diablo. Particularly if anyone's using a big giant external monitor such as a u3011 like I have hooked up to it like I do.

I got my m6500 off ebay. I got a good deal on it so no worries about that.

I tend to use wired ethernet exclusively. I have noticed the ethernet port doesn't click well, it's very loose. Can anyone with an m6500 confirm the ethernet port is sturdy and secure? I'm suspecting mine may have been the victim of a cord yank at some point and the port is mechanically broken. Luckily a replacement board isn't very expensive.

Cable's not loose at all here.

Also, to answer my own question, I received a "guest" pass for Diablo 3 and have been playing it the couple of nights pushing my u3011 very comfortably at it's native resolution (2560x1600) through an external connection from my e-port to the monitor.

Same here, runs in 30s FPS but when in a team with lots popping off it realllly chugs. Not sure if its the system or Blizzard's weird servers.

EDIT: The system. Turned graphics down to ugly & checked VSync; its smooth now.

Hello. This is my first post. I'm looking for Dell Precision M6500 Nvidia quadro 5000m bios. I've bought this card from Dell Laptop Parts | Dell Parts | Dell Laptop Repair | Dell Repair. The problem is that I can't find drivers, I've been trying Dell, HP and Nvidia drivers and every time I'm trying to install new driver I've got message "Driver cant find compatible hardware". I've spent hours on the phone with rubbish Dell tech support and Nvidia Tech Support. Unfortunately they were not able to help me. What I know so far is that my graphic card has different hardware ID than Dell. The Graphic card is Dell product (confirmed by tech support), so I think the only solution is to Flash my graphic card with Dell quadro 5000m bios. Sorry for my bad english.

I have an nVIDIA Quadro 5000M for a Dell Precision M6500.

I bought it for my HP EliteBook 8740w, not realizing it is not compatible, so I need to sell it and shop for the version I can actually use!

    Hi xPat,

I decided to hold onto my cash a bit longer. I do think it will work though, but I have no way of proving it until I try it. Once I get a few more funds I will pull the trigger.
