Hi just about to pull the trigger with an M6500.
Still thinking between i5 vs i7.If I go the i5 way is it possible to upgrade to an i7 like 920xm?
Also if I do get an I7-620M is it possible to upgrade it to an i7 920xm?
Just alittle confused regarding the different I7 and I5 flavours.

    Thanks

Yes it is possible, however if you get an i5 or i7-620M (which are Arrandale dual-core processors) you will get a dual-core processor motherboard, which has only 2 memory slots. The board can still take any of the Nehalem mobile processors, it just only has 2 memory slots. To get a quad-core motherboard with its 4 memory slots, you need to start out with a quad-core (any i7 that isn't the 620 or 640).

I have M6500 with Panasonic UJ232A Slim BD-RE Drive. And I can write both 25Gb and 50Gb bluray disks (rewritable and regular, for both capacities).

I don't recommend the thermal pads, just use thermal paste. If you order the heatsinks, they should come preapplied with the thermal pads.

Their are MUCH better products than the standard "Dell thermal pad".

    Review the following URL:

    "Buying the Best Thermal Paste"

Buying Guide: The Best Thermal Paste

    Best performance is CoolJag Shin-Etsu X23 7783D

    Why?

The M6500 has been shipping with a single motherboard, with 4 DIMM slots, since last year. The dual core CPU's have a cover over 2 of the slots, but the motherboard is the same for dual and quad.
