Aye but the Dell M6500 the first mobile workstation to accept 8gb modules over it's 3 dimm slots for up to 32gb of DDR3 ram. Unless maybe Dell is using a different chipset for when you select 32gb of DDR3 ram in the config I'd say perhaps the chipset they are using now may be compatible with the 32GB.

Also another thing to notice my new M6500's BIOS revision is 05, yet the latest one Dell has for the M6500 is the Revision 04. The only difference was between the quad core motherboard, and usb 3.0. Could there also be another feature with the Revision 05 that perhaps allows for the 32 GB?

How do I get cpu-z to post my cpu properly? It just shows x 940 @ 2.13GHz and generic i7 logo

Update CPU-Z if it needs updating. If it's already updated, then just wait for CPU-Z to add further support to your CPU.

Don't know for the m7820 but for my m7740 the setup told me that my 8.702 from Dell is already the latest available driver.

And both the HP 8740w and the M6500 can accept 8 GB SODIMMs in their 4 slots for 32 GB... for _Clarksfield_. I'm talking specifically about Arrandale here, which has less memory support. And yes, if you had an early enough BIOS (check previous links) you had issues with dual-cores in quad-core boards. Again, the issue I'm talking about specifically is the issue of the PM55 chipset perhaps not allowing the Arrandale to recognize all 4 memory slots, since that was what was previously posted by havoctex. In the case of the 8740w, that has been shown to be untrue; the Arrandale _can_ recognize 4 memory slots (although only with a maximum of 16 GB over all slots), but the question is whether or not that's because of the different 8740w chipset. For Clarksfield, this whole issue is moot, because we've known that they support this the whole time.

Ok, I got M7820 and I found there is no any of mobility firepro cards on INF lists. I also checked with XP version and they are the same. I think thats the mistake by ATI, I just sent an email to AMD and hope they can fix it soon.

Just a quick (boring) update on my DVD burner issues.

The original GS20N slot-load DVD burner degraded over time so that it would no longer successfully burn DVDs at any speeds over 3x. (Many applications don't allow selection of speeds below 4x with this burner, since the allowable speeds it passes to the applications are 4x and 8x, so I made a BUNCH of coasters troubleshooting this issue.)

After going through three different slot load burners (all GS20Ns), all of which had the same track following errors when trying to burn a dvd at greater than 3x speeds, I finally got Dell to send me a tray load GU40N (also manufactured by HLDS).

The tray load GU40N burns like a champ. I'd say stay away from the slot load burners.

Slot load drives generally should be avoided because of general issues with degradation.
