I can't comment on the ram since I've not used it, but I recommend the 500GB Hitachi hard drive. To my surprise the read rate was >100MBs empty and >85MBs with 100GB of data.

I bought 8 gigs of Crucial Ram for my m4400 and it's pretty great (from Newegg.com). I'm not finding it right now in your configuration, but I can vouch for the quality....it's very good.

Well, I am still waiting on my 6500. The ram sticks were supposed to arrive on 12/30. No arrival.

    Really aggrevating.

Are you referring to the DDR3-1600 ram?

You ordered the i7-920XM with 8gb of 1600mHz RAM? I think that 8gb is the most you can install in the system and ordering additional would not fit. There are 4 memory slots in the m6500 and I think the 1600mHz memory is currently only available in 2gb increments, maximum, makeing the total maximum limited to 8gb. Or did you order the memory seperatly from the m6500? Actually, I shouldv'e done that and probably wouldve saved a good amount of money. oh well, it is only money right :D

Here's to you getting your new system soon

and only 18 more days for me... assuming they don't push out the shipping date. HA!

Edit: since I'm bumping this thread... anyone have any reviews and photos they want to post up and share so those of us waiting can have something to drool over while we wait for our systems to arrive? :D Because I know that if you can afford a high end system like this then you must have a nice high megapixel camera to snap a few pics :) what better time for using that nice camera than to take pictures of your sweet new m6500?

I ordered the 920 and two 4gb ram sticks. There is not an option to do 4 dimms with the 1600Mhz

ah yes, you are correct. It is not possible to order in 4gb 1600MHz increments... since they do not make 4gb 1600 dimms at the moment. They do make them in 2gb dimms however and in the US it is an option to get 4 1600Mhz dimms in 2gb increments. I made an incorrect assumption that this was how your ordered your system. sorry for the confusion :) carry on everyone :)

would still like to see more photos and/or reviews of people's m6500 systems... or just general comments on how you all like (or dislike) it.

    Thanks,

    Ben
