    Hi All,

Waiting for my dell Business rep two call me tomorrow,

In references to the 1600MHz RAM, you have two options.

    1) 8.0GB, DDR3-1600MHz SDRAM, 2 DIMMS 2x(4GB) kit
    2) 4.0GB, DDR3-1600MHz SDRAM, 2 DIMMS 2x(2GB) kit

I will be asking my rep about 16GB, this is an option but you have to ask for it.

Would love to see some pictures of the non-covet & the Covet Screen. What’s up no pictures?

    Thank You

    :)

    Hi mannyA,

I may be mistaken but I thought that the DDR3 1600Mhz memory was only available in 2GB modules. In other words, impossible to get 16GB using that high speed memory since it is not sold in individual 4GB modules. But I was only basing this on what I've read in the forums.

Does there exist 4GB modules in the high speed DDR3 1600MHz?

    Thanks,

    Ben

ha :) Yes, I'm very much looking forward to the day mine arrives. Are you having your's preinstalled with Unbuntu? I should see if I can install that in a virtual machine... I've not tried Ubuntu before.

Ben you are correct, 1600MHz memory is currently only available in 2GB DIMMs, making for a max configuration of 8GB. There are currently no 4GB 1600MHz DIMMs available.

Looking and comparing the prices of the different M6400 and M6500 configurations I noticed that an M6400 with a QX9300 is actually more expensive than an M6500 with an i7 CPU, despite the latter scoring much higher in the benchmarks I've seen.

What am I missing? Is there any reason/argument at all for anyone to order a new M6400 at this point or is M6500 the way to go?
