From what I've read, yes. I'm not 100% sure though.

PC Adviser is renowned for its quality articles aimed at people who understand computing...

I love these sorts of reviews to see how the main consumer market views the laptop, to sum up that article one could say.

BIG, FASTEST, EXPENSIVE AND HEAVY :D

clearly the reviewer likes the laptop. but I'm not sure how far to trust that review...

    Specifications
Mobile Precision M6500 Silver Base; Genuine Windows 7 Professional (32Bit OS) Recovery DVD included; Norton Internet Securities 2009 (15 Month Subscription) AntiVirus Software; 17in Widescreen WXGA+ (1440x990) Silver with White Led LCD Panel; 1GB GDDR5 for ATI FirePro M7740 (with 1GB dedicated memory); Integrated Microphone only for Silver Base; 2GB 1066MHz DDR3 Dual Channel (2x1GB); 250GB Serial ATA (7200RPM) (Free fall sensor); 8X DVD+/-RW Drive Tray Load with Optical Media Included; EMEA Dell Wireless 1397 (802.11 b/g) Mini Card; EMEA Dell Wireless 365 2.1 Bluetooth; Primary 9-cell 90W/HR Battery for Silver LCD Panel; Internal UK/Irish Qwerty Backlit Keyboard; Intel Core i7-720QM (1.60GHz.6MB.Quad Core)

but then the reviewer goes on to say the following... which contradicts his systems specs shown above. so he is either basing his review on pure conjecture or I'm confused about his test system's specs... or maybe he's lying. lol

    the 17in screen with its 1,920-by-1,200 resolution is the top of the line for laptops and the envy of many desktops;

The version we examined was driven by the most powerful CPU offering: a quad-core Intel Core i7 (Nehalem) x920 processor running at 2GHz. This is one of the first Nehalem mobile processors to ship. It supports Hyper-Threading, so it provides up to eight execution pipelines. These are fed by an 8MB cache that in turn can be fed by up to 16GB of DDR3 memory running at 1,333MHz. On my machine, the system had 4GB of RAM (using two DIMMs).

The graphics system consists of the just-released Nvidia Quadro FX 3800M adapter, with 1GB of dedicated RAM and a 650MHz internal clock - the fastest currently available model of mobile graphics cards.

But I did enjoy the review. :) I can't get enough hearing about this Fastest, most powerful laptop ever produced by anyone, ever. lol

but it isnt the fastest most powerfull laptop by a fair margin there is several gaming machines with desktop i7 cpu's and sli graphics.... it is the fastest business machine tho !

as for the review it was pityfull , hard numbers presented next to the competition , plus it seems the reviewer has never handled a large laptop before with his constant moaning about the size ?!?! ..... we know its a big machine just by looking at the screen size! , idiot

i wouldn't say they are the fastest, since these guys : http://www.boxxtech.com/products/goBOXX/goboxx_overview.asp use actual desktop versions of the i7 cpu's in their mobile workstations, and from the quote i got from them, they are also offering an upgrade to a quadro gfx card for extra $$$.

According to the Dell rep on this forum, it supports two internal 2.5" drives (wasn't specified height, but I assume 9.5mm) and one miniPCIe SSD (there is a storage controller attached to the pins allowing any SSD in this slot). If you remove the optical drive, you can get another 2.5" drive (12.5mm supported).

    gradx,

    Can you post some pics?

    Bokeh,

Whats the latest with your system?

    worldww3,

Hate to say it but Dell's warrenty for me is worth the weight of the 230 watt AC adapter in gold lol. Boxx system is powerfull. But hard to compete with dell's rep.

Still in the boxing stage which means its on a plane to Nashville. If it ships tomorrow I will have it Wednesday. Picked up a copy of Modern Warfare 2 so that I could get a benchmark from a current game.
