I haven't used my m6500 much yet but while observing the 3DMark06 tests, it is very bright and color rich. It looks absolutely stunning! Now having said that, I can see where some won't like it as much but I prefer glossy over matte. I'll check it when I get home to see how much space there is between the bezel and glass and try to snap some pics of it but mine is not the edge-to-edge.

Thanks for the explanation about the edge - to - edge. All this time I had been thinking it was a different backlighting technology.

I actually prefer glossy over matte as well. I have a MacbookPro 17" with the glass covered screen and although it does have glare it is very beautiful and slick most of the time. It also prevents scratches on the screen itself. I have another Dell with the 'truelife' 17" screen (4+ yrs old) that has a few nicks and scratches from over time. With glass edge-to-edge that wouldn't happen and I'm a klutz so I know I'd scratch it someday. For the $$$ throwing down, I think I need the glass cover.

Otherwise I would go with the matte screen because it looks good 100% of the time.

    Thanks for the explanation.

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused by your answer. Can you clarify whether the display on your m6500 is glossy or matte? I was under the impression that the edge-to-edge is glossy, and that if it isn't edge-to-edge, then it is matte?

I think it is glossy but I may be mistaken. The screen is so bright that it's hard to tell with it on but I'll have to look at it when it's off. I'll know for sure when I get home.

iv only tried one slot loaded tray from dell, in a xps but it made such a horrible noise when the disk was speening, that i thought it was defective, but the laptop was like 3days old, so dont know, i ordered my 6500 with slot loaded drive.

just checked the status, and my 6500 is in boxing stage so i guess one more week till i get it.
