I can confirm that the Intel Matrix Storage Driver 8.8 has a very positive impact on my system. Latencies are almost below 1500ms now!

    regards

I have also been using 8.8 (direct from the Intel web site) for the past couple of weeks without any obvious bad side-effects. The latencies dropped into the green zone, which is tidy, although I wasn't getting any obvious problems with the high latencies.

I also dared to try the 8.8! But the access time (HD Tune) of my Seagate 7200.3 dropped down from 16 to 30 ms! Talking about Intel driver probs, the Express Chipset driver 15.13.0.1659 often restarted the Intel 4500 graphics driver, with brightness at max! No probs with the predecessor version 15.10.1666.

I've no issues there. I've just reurn HD Tune and it shows average access time of 16.7ms for my WD5000BEVT.

Just put my 5000BEVT drive back in as the primary drive, and installed version 8.8; HD Tune still shows an access time of 16.3ms, so I think you may have other issues with your access times Nully.
