I updated my bios and brought it to school today and put it in power save mode... I have a constant fan noise too. Its more of a subtle hum though.... My guess is the Hdd? I have been debating pulling the SSD out of my V130 before selling it and if thats the case... I just might do it. I will wait to hear responses.

As far as the charging cable/cord... I think mine was supposed to have the 65w. brick. As far as the one I got... not too sure. The original V13 I got came with a slim charger with a blue tip and I have just always used that. I will check my brick when I get home for you and let you know. If I can get a smaller one by complaining, then I would be much happier with that... even though its going to get sold with my V130, lol.

for guy is planning to change processor for i7

-forget it, it's stupid idea, i5 is everything you need and so thin laptops are not design to have i7!!!!!!!!!!!

It's already 2 months with my v131. I love it. My left hinge looks wierd, but next week i am going to visit my friend (a dell service worker) and he will have a look at it. Basecelly this laptop is awesome for study, portable use. I love it

    P.S.
I know what i miss somehow. It's battery level checker at back (don't know how its called)

Mine came with A03. After I updated to A04, the fan was on, and I couldn't make it stop but after I rebooted it, everything was fine. Now, the fan comes only when I play video. Of course, I have the Celeron CPU which, I suppose, doesn't get as hot as the i3/i5 CPUs--that's why I ordered the Celeron version to start with. ;)

The 90W brick is insane. I would personally ask for the 65W brick.

As for the sound you are hearing, its possibly the hard drive. When your keyboard backlight is on, when looking at the bottom side of your laptop, you should be able to see both fans and whether they're idle or not.

I think it's the HDD (read my reply to djklmnop below). If only SSDs were cheaper!

Dell HW support admitted that the wrong part (90W) was sent to me so hopefully they'll sort it out. Customer care was closed when I called today. I'm going to talk to them tomorrow to exchange it. I hope I don't have to complain much :p

Thanks for the tip on the backlight. Both fans were off and I still heard the sound. I'm somewhat surprised to learn it is the HDD as I never thought it could be so audible in a quiet room. The drive is a Samsung HM500JJ and reviews say it is quiet. I wonder if maybe the laptop case is amplifying the vibration sound somehow? It's a slightly rough sound that is somewhat irritating.

Thanks for the comment on the 65W brick as well. The 90W brick isn't overly big or heavy, but every bit counts during portable use.

Believe me, I know the i5 is great, I have an HP with one. :) See, I crunched the numbers, and it is cheaper to get the cheapest V131 ($298 after taxes and shipping at the time) and add in an i7 and 8GB RAM, than to grab one with an i5 and 4GB.

Took a picture just for fun... quick shot compairing the V130 to the V131. I put the 131 on top upside-down so you can get an idea of thickness w/o the battery bump.

For what? its 50C with i5 2430 doing basic stuff with 30%processor. With i7 you will be able to cook sausage. Better say what for you need i7, then you should take xps15

    *Fixed.... MMMmmmm Bacon

An i7 would be overkill but to be the only one with one... that would be worth it in cool points alone. Plus if its cheaper than the i5, why not. There is always the possibility that you can throttle it down when you are mobile and bring it back to full speed when you are at your desk with a notebook cooler attached to the bottom... Just a thought.
